Job description

The System Administrator maintains the availability, security, and operational readiness of the FBLP Experimentation Division’s Simulation Network (SIMNET). The position administers Windows and Linux workstations, servers, virtual machines, storage devices, applications, and simulation-support systems used to prepare and execute computer-based experiments. Primary Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, update, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems, Windows Server, Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, and Army simulation software.
  • Maintain approximately 105 desktops and laptops, 45 virtual machines, seven servers, four network-attached storage devices, and associated peripherals.
  • Conduct daily system-readiness checks and ensure hardware and software remain compatible and operational.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating-system, application, and peripheral failures.
  • Install approved software releases, security patches, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Replace failed components using Government-furnished spares and coordinate unresolved issues with system developers, vendors, and Government personnel.
  • Support simulation setup, testing, pilot runs, record runs, and experimentation events.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories, system configurations, engineering-change documentation, and RMF accreditation records.
  • Conduct or support vulnerability scanning, malware protection, intrusion detection, STIG compliance, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and active Secret eligibility supported by a Tier 3 investigation, as required by the final solicitation and DD Form 254.
  • Seven years of relevant systems administration, hardware repair, maintenance, or related technical experience.
  • DoD 8140/IAT Level II qualification.
  • CompTIA Security+ and Government-accepted server and Linux certifications.
  • Experience supporting secure Army or DoD systems in classified or controlled environments.
