Job description
Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Lead Full Stack Developer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients in the DMV area., * Design, develop, and maintain UI applications (Angular micro-frontends) and backend services (REST APIs, Lambda functions) that power regulatory form filing.
- Author and evolve JSON Schema and layout definitions, and the schema-driven rendering and validation pipelines that consume them.
- Build and support the filing lifecycle - draft creation, amendment and submission including cross-section and cross-system validation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers, and raise the bar on code quality, performance, and testing across the team.
- Contribute to architecture discussions and technical strategy for the modernization, identifying and resolving technical risks and cross-team dependencies before they threaten delivery.
- Support production systems and troubleshoot complex issues, including validation failures, schema/layout mismatches, and filing lifecycle defects.

AI-accelerated engineering
- Use AI-assisted development tools (examples: Kiro, Claude, Copilot) as your default working mode - code generation, refactoring, debugging, test authoring, schema and layout drafting, seed data, and documentation - while owning the output as your own work and holding the line on test coverage and security discipline.
- Build reusable automation - specs, steering rules, agent skills and hooks, code indexers, test generators, review assistants, prompt libraries - that turns one-off AI interactions into repeatable processes the whole team benefits from.
- Keep looking for the next thing to automate. We want someone who is visibly bothered by repetitive work and can point to specific workflows they made faster, and by how much.
- Design agent workflows that are reliable, debuggable, and produce deterministic, testable outcomes, using agent frameworks and protocols (tool use, MCP, multi-step reasoning).
- Work within approved-tool boundaries when handling non-public filing data.

Engineering excellence
- Simplify code and infrastructure, and prioritize work that measurably lowers maintenance and migration cost.
- Work independently on broad, ambiguous problems, exercising judgment to choose the right course of action rather than waiting for direction.
- Help the team set and deliver clear short-, mid-, and long-term goals aligned to the business, and treat the uncertainty of regulatory and business change as normal.
- Build collaborative relationships with partners inside and outside the team, seek out other perspectives, avoid blame, and disagree-and-commit to keep decisions moving.

Frontend
- Angular with TypeScript in strict mode - we run on current versions and stay close to the Angular release cadence
- RxJS for reactive state management and data flow
- JSON Schema authoring (we use draft-07) and schema-driven UI rendering
- Angular Formly or a comparable dynamic form engine
- Micro-frontend architecture (Angular Elements, multi-project workspace)
- Complex form behaviors: conditional visibility, cross-section copy, array-based schedules
- Playwright for end-to-end testing; Karma/Jasmine for unit testing
- SCSS, responsive layouts, and accessibility compliance

Backend
- Java with Spring Boot (validation engine and data collection services)
- Spring Expression Language (SpEL) for assertion-based validation rules
- RESTful API design and microservices architecture

Cloud and DevOps
- AWS: S3, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway
- Observability and troubleshooting: CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray
- Infrastructure as code
- CI/CD with Jenkins and Bitbucket; Git branching strategies, PR workflows, release orchestration
Requirements
- Demonstrated daily, hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools in a production environment, with specific examples of workflows you automated and the time saved. Expect to walk through an artifact you built - a spec you drove end to end, steering files, an agent skill or hook, an MCP integration, or a prompt/script library your teammates adopted.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least 7 years of related experience, or equivalent training and work experience.
- Production experience with Angular and TypeScript on a current release line.
- Strong object-oriented development experience in Java, and system design experience for distributed services.
- Strong hands-on experience building and operating on AWS.
- Computer science fundamentals: algorithm design, data structures, complexity analysis, and problem solving.
Preferred Skills :
- Schema-driven development and dynamic form rendering (Angular Formly, JSON Schema).
- Micro-frontend architecture at production scale.
- SpEL or another expression/rules language for business validation.
- Performance tuning and optimization.
- Financial services, regulatory technology, or compliance systems.
- Certifications in AWS or AI
