Job description

As a Manager of IT - Field Services at Tutor Perini Corp., you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the successful day to day operations of Tutor Perini’s field resources for his or her region. The Manager will proactively manage tasks and resources so that the highest priority needs are addressed timely and scarce resources are optimized. The role is responsible for recruiting, developing, and leading a team of high performing technical resources to ensure that Tutor Perini has well managed IT capabilities. The Manager is a master technologist with a strong working knowledge of networking, server, and desktop computing and mobile device management. The Manager can be hands-on to solve issues and coach others through the problem-solving process. He/she is a skilled project manager who plans and manages task lists, resources, and budgets leveraging Microsoft Project, Excel and other proven project management tools.

  • Lead the operational management of TPC field resources for network and desktop support for the assigned region.
  • Interface with Business Unit executive leadership and management to ensure that business objectives are clearly captured and guide the prioritization of field and help desk tasks.
  • Partner with the Manager of IT Operations to develop and implement help desk ticket scheduling processes to ensure the highest level of customer support possible and maximize the efficiency of field resources. Review tickets daily and proactively adjust assignments. Analyze trends to identify recurring issues that need to be addressed at a systemic level.
  • Work collaboratively with the other operations managers to ensure adequate scheduling of Tier 1 and Tier 2 support and adjust schedules to address spikes in demand from job site setup and other major tasks that affect staff workloads.
  • Analyze process and technology options and formulate compelling recommendations for senior management that optimize the trade-offs between cost and functionality. Develop and implement special projects on-scope, schedule, and budget. Deliver effective enterprise-wide technologies and business processes.
  • Recruit, develop, nurture, and guide a team of high performing technical resources. Create conditions for staff members to learn and grow through their work. Insist on excellence and deal with difficult issues by timely addressing any performance deficiencies.
  • Demonstrate leadership, coaching, support, and feedback that leads to consistent high performance amongst all direct reports. Be a role model for staff and peers by demonstrating excellent professional discipline and task management.
  • Partner with the Infrastructure Team to integrate the TPC desktop and software strategy with the IT infrastructure to optimize end user capabilities and IT’s ability to support deployed technologies.
  • Identify long and short-term opportunities to outsource functions that can be managed more effectively by third party experts vs. in-house resources.
  • Manage the IT budget for the region with an over-arching goal of optimizing performance so that Tutor Perini IT provides the required technology and IT services to support business operations at the lowest cost metrics for similar companies in the E&C space.

Requirements

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future., * BS/BA required in Computer Science or other related major. Masters degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of five years of IT technical experience and three years’ managing internal and third party technical resources.
  • Excellent project management skills and a strong track record of delivering IT solutions that improve business operations.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of key technologies, including: Windows desktop, Windows Server, Aruba Networking, MS Active Directory, Hosted VoIP, and Citrix Xen Desktop.
  • Experience overseeing help desk operations and the implementation and management of incident tracking systems.
  • Minimum of five years of experience managing diverse and geographically dispersed technical services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills - a skilled business professional who communicates effectively with all levels of end-users and management.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability with sound business decision making practices.
  • Ability to work major projects and manage multiple priorities with minimum supervision is a must.
