Job description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three (3) times per week, at minimum., Join the innovative and high-impact Planar Motion Coordination team within Global Systems Engineering, Safety, and Validation as a Systems Integration Validation Engineer. Our team defines and delivers torque distribution (mechanical AWD/4WD, eAWD, eLSD, etc.), traction control, and vehicle dynamics state estimation systems and safety cases that shape how every GM vehicle performs on the road.

In this role, you will lead end-to-end integration and validation of these systems across vehicle programs and architecture variants. This includes system-level test case definition, safety/functional/performance/robustness testing via virtual/hardware-in-the-loop (HiL)/vehicle assets, issue identification & resolution, and system readiness assessments.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead system integration for specific program applications, ensuring system performance meets key program development milestones
  • Ensure final product meets requirements via direct testing or aggregation of decomposed tests
  • Conduct exploratory evaluations and robustness testing beyond requirements to ensure our product meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Generate system development and validation plans that utilize behavioral modeling, Software-In-the Loop (SIL), Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL), and vehicle assets
  • Setup data acquisition and instrumentation to perform detailed analysis on their output
  • Define system-level tests for all integration, automated regression testing, and validation activities for assigned systems
  • Support system engineers and system safety engineers during requirement development through modeling, vehicle experiments, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Support cross functional teams with system expertise to ensure coordinated execution and a high-quality result

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or related field of study.
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally in automotive vehicle dynamics or propulsion
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be comfortable performing advanced driving maneuvers such as high lateral acceleration turns or maneuvers on an icy surface.
  • Travel as required (~5%, occasional day trips and 1-2 weeks of off-site winter testing), * Experience with vehicle dynamics, vehicle motion controls, driveline systems, chassis controls, calibration, or vehicle integration.
  • Experience with vehicle development, including instrumentation, data acquisition, fault insertion, and test execution
  • Experience with virtual development (MiL, SiL, HiL, DiL) and custom tool development via coding (C, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of distributed real-time control systems, embedded software development, automotive networks, diagnostics, Ethernet/CAN/LIN, DTCs, and logs.
  • Experience with GM requirements, validation, evidence-management, and issue-tracking tools; familiarity with safety, regulatory, or compliance evidence.
  • Experience conducting advanced maneuvers or already possess advanced driving certification

GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role. Do not apply for this role if you will need GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes direct company sponsorship, entry of GM as the immigration employer of record on a government form, and any work authorization requiring a written submission or other immigration support from the company (e.g., H1-B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, etc).

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.
