Job description

  • Ensures that applications meet business and functional requirements and goals and fulfills user requirements.
  • Coordinates installations, upgrades, patches/fixes rolled out throughout campuses as outlined by management.
  • Responsible for the debugging, coding and SQL as required within normal duties performed.
  • Identifies and resolves application system issues, application and security compliance and interface specifications.
  • Acts as technology integration liaison between the functional units, technology teams, project manager and other areas.
  • Analyzes information and requirements to deliver functional and process requirements, use cases, process analysis and technical designs.
  • Plans, schedules and engages in multiple initiatives simultaneously with competing deadlines.
  • Collaborates with analysts, designers, system engineers, system owners, and internal as well as external customers in the implementation of applications.
  • Stays in contact with application vendors for prompt rectification of any problems and emergencies.
  • Performs daily monitoring of ERP systems, including scheduling, configuring and testing patches and upgrades as required and develops solutions for monitoring application services.
  • Coordinates with IT staff resources to assist with design specifications, program logic and data requirements.
  • Evaluates applications in order to identify potential problem areas and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Utilizes the organizations change management process across all affected areas.
  • Formulates recommendations to improve and support organizational processes and activities.
  • Prepares and delivers application activity and progress reports for presentations to executive management.
  • Coordinates feasibility studies under consideration for purchases, and reports findings to upper level management and e Project Management Office.
  • Performs modeling, automation and continuous process improvement of business processes, as well as routes information of any type according to user-defined rules.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in CIS, CS or a closely related field from an accredited university., Two (2) years of experience administering IT applications, including overseeing the development and implementation of software solutions and applications. Experience in database coding, such as SQL.

Preferred Experience

Knowledge of SQL for querying and technical tools and best practices for quality assurance and change management. Experience writing interface code with application for static, reporting, and trending reports. Experience with enterprise-level applications, such as CRM, data warehouse and others. Experience in relational database administration, including MSSQL, oracle or similar large-scale database. Experience with programs and languages such as Vbscript, C#, powershell, Perl, Bash Shell scripting, Java, ASP, PHP and/or SQL.

Equipment

Use of personal computer and ability to use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, & Power Point. Standard office equipment., Must have strong organizational skills and a high level of problem solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to master new technology and applications. Must be able to multitask and manage projects concurrently.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Benefits & conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment. May be required to work evenings and/or weekends. Occasional travel will be required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
