Job description

  • Architect and Build: Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end features using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Node.js).
  • Visualize the Invisible: Build highly interactive, dynamic UIs that map and visualize complex RF spectrum data, allowing users to understand congested signal activity at a glance.
  • Develop Robust APIs: Build the API-first data layer that allows our platform to integrate seamlessly with both modern autonomous systems and legacy government databases.
  • Bridge the Data Gap: Work closely with our data and AI pipelines to ingest digitized legacy records (PDFs, old databases) and surface them cleanly in the application.
  • Own the Infrastructure: Help shape our engineering culture, best practices, deployment pipelines, and overall system architecture as we scale from prototype to enterprise production.

Requirements

  • JavaScript Mastery: 4+ years of professional fullstack experience with deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Modern Stack Experience: Strong proficiency with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar) and backend development using Python (FastAPI) or Rust.
  • Database Fluency: Experience designing and querying relational databases (PostgreSQL) and handling complex, unstructured data.
  • Complex UI/UX: A track record of building user interfaces that distill massive amounts of complex, technical data into simple, intuitive workflows.
  • Startup DNA: High-agency builders. You thrive in ambiguity, write clean but practical code, and care more about shipping real-world impact than over-engineering.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with geospatial data, mapping libraries (Mapbox, Cesium), or real-time data visualization.
  • Previous experience in defense tech, government software, or highly regulated industries.
  • An active U.S. Security Clearance (or eligibility to obtain one).

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive salary with opportunities for growth and equity in an early stage startup.
  • Comprehensive health insurance plans.
  • Regular team-building events and company retreats.

About the company

Airbase builds the software platform for radio frequency spectrum licensing, coordination, and intelligence. Backed by a16z, we are a fast-moving, dual-use startup transforming wireless communication from a static, analog bottleneck into a dynamic, software-defined advantage.

Today, the world’s most advanced hardware-from satellite mega-constellations to Army UAS swarms and Electronic Warfare systems-is grounded by 20th-century paperwork. Spectrum coordination relies on fragmented databases, missing systems of record, and decades of static PDFs. Airbase is fixing this. We’ve built novel AI pipelines to digitize this analog bureaucracy and translate it into a software-defined, machine-readable data layer. We are transforming the spectrum from a static bottleneck into a dynamic advantage, delivering machine-speed tactical deconfliction for the military and automated licensing for commercial innovators.
