Job description
- Perform standard and customer specific laboratory testing.
- Troubleshoot customer problems and work in cross functional teams to create solutions.
- Develop new test methods to simulate actual customer processes.
- Work in cross functional teams to improve powder process functions (cycle time, process improvements, product enhancements/modifications., etc.).
- Will require communicating and traveling to customer sites.
- Prepare reports as needed for internal and external customers.
- Prepare individual project presentations as well as broad-scope presentations for customers.
- Ability to discuss SNF products and processes with customers without disclosing confidential information.
Requirements
The Applications R&D Chemist I will work with our sales team and synthesis R&D groups to help identify customer needs, solve problems for customers, and expand our existing product lines. Additionally, the Applications Chemist I will need to have the ability to work on multiple projects in different business segments. The ideal candidate would have experience working with chemicals used in municipal and industrial waste treatment facilities, pulp and paper mills, and mining operations. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment., * Bachelors in Chemistry or equivalent - Required, * 2 years Laboratory environment. - Required
- 1 year Laboratory wet bench chemistry environment. - Preferred
- 1 year Industrial manufacturing environment. - Preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of basic chemistry (Analytical and Organic).
- Working knowledge of statistical controls and methods.
- Working knowledge of basic rheological models preferred.
- Polymer applications experience preferred.
- Highly motivated and detail oriented.
- Possess good communication skills.
- Team player and able to work well with individuals and cross functional teams representing all area of the organization.
- Computer proficiency in all MS Office Software applications.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
