Job description
We’re partnering with a rapidly growing, mission-driven organization to identify a Principal BI Analyst who will sit at the intersection of Finance, Business Intelligence, and leadership. This is a newly evolving finance organization supporting a Minnesota business approaching $500M in revenue, with continued growth and acquisition activity creating an even greater need for sophisticated analytics. The opportunity here is to build, not simply operate. You’ll partner closely with Finance and BI to determine what leaders need to understand about the business and then use Power BI, SQL, and financial data to turn that information into meaningful reporting, visualization, and actionable insight. The dashboards and analytics you develop won’t sit on a shelf; they’ll help leadership understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better decisions about where the business goes next. You’ll also work for a Finance leader we know well. We’ve had the opportunity to work with him previously in his career and know him to be an engaging leader who values strong thinking, collaboration, and people who can bring ideas forward. Why this opportunity stands out:
- Bridge Finance + Data. Sit between the Finance and BI teams, translating business questions into reporting and analytics that leadership can actually use.
- Build something better. Finance for the Minnesota businesses has only been built out over the last few years, giving you the opportunity to improve reporting rather than inherit a completely finished environment.
- Get beyond the numbers. Use Power BI and SQL to automate reporting, create meaningful visualizations, and uncover the why behind business performance.
- Influence leadership decisions. Help create the KPIs, dashboards, and insights that Finance and business leaders will use to drive strategy.
- Solve complex problems. This isn’t just a report-building role. You’ll help define business problems, determine what the data is telling you, and recommend how the organization should respond.
- Experience continued growth and change. The organization continues to grow through acquisition, creating opportunities to integrate new businesses, data, and reporting into the broader platform.
- Work for a mission-driven organization. The company’s work ultimately helps individuals who need care remain in the setting of their choosing - giving the work behind the numbers a meaningful purpose.
- Enjoy flexibility. Hybrid schedule with just one day per week in the Minnetonka office.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with 5+ years of BI, analytics, or related experience who is comfortable working in Power BI and SQL and, just as importantly, can communicate what the data means. Healthcare, home healthcare, or Medicaid experience would be particularly valuable.
