Business Data Analyst / BI Consultant

A Data Office team is looking for a Business Data Analyst / BI Consultant to support its data-driven transformation initiatives across Grid, Finance, and Logistics domains.

The consultant will act as the link between business stakeholders and data teams, helping identify opportunities to create value from data and transforming business needs into actionable analyses, KPIs, dashboards, and insights. The role combines strong business understanding, data analytics expertise, reporting capabilities, and stakeholder engagement.

Your missions: Act as the interface between business stakeholders and data teams. Understand business processes and challenges within Grid, Finance, and Logistics domains. Identify opportunities to leverage data for decision-making and business value creation. Gather, analyze, challenge, and refine business requirements. Translate business questions into relevant data analysis and decision-support solutions. Produce actionable insights and recommendations for business users. Design, develop, maintain, and enhance analytical reports and dashboards. Support end users in interpreting results and adopting data solutions.

Contribute to Data Office initiatives related to: Data Governance Data Quality Data Products Promote a data-driven culture throughout the organization. Stay informed about innovations and market trends in data and analytics. Contribute to the adoption of modern data management concepts, including Data Products, Data Mesh, Self-Service Analytics, and Generative AI.

Your activities: Business Analysis Understand operational and strategic business challenges. Conduct workshops and stakeholder interviews. Collect, formalize, and challenge user requirements. Translate business needs into analytical use cases and data-driven solutions. Ensure alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions. Data Analysis Work with complex datasets within Data Warehouse, Data Platform, or analytical platform environments. Explore, analyze, and interpret data. Identify trends, anomalies, and business opportunities. Produce meaningful insights and recommendations. Validate data relevance and usability for business purposes. Dashboarding & Reporting Design and develop business-oriented dashboards and reports.

Deliver end-to-end dashboard development: Requirement gathering Design Development Testing Deployment User support and adoption Create intuitive and user-friendly visualizations. Apply data storytelling and information design principles. Present analytical findings in a clear, visual, and business-oriented manner. Utilize Power BI as the primary reporting platform. Use SAS Visual Analytics when relevant. Data Office Contribution Participate in Data Governance initiatives. Support Data Quality improvement efforts. Contribute to data product development and data value realization. Promote best practices related to metadata management and data governance. Assist in strengthening organizational data maturity. Innovation & Data Culture Monitor developments in analytics, BI, and AI. Explore opportunities offered by Generative AI and Analytical AI. Encourage self-service analytics adoption. Support the spread of data literacy and a data-driven mindset throughout the organization.

Strong experience in data analysis and business stakeholder support. Ability to understand business processes and operational realities. Proven capability to translate business requirements into valuable analytical solutions. Experience conducting requirements analysis. Ability to challenge and refine stakeholder needs. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to explain complex analyses to non-technical audiences. Industry Experience At least one significant professional experience in the energy sector. Ability to quickly understand energy-related business processes and challenges. Data & Analytics

Significant experience within: Data Warehouse environments Data Platforms Analytical platforms

Strong understanding of: Data modeling concepts Data integration concepts Data valorization and exploitation Advanced SQL proficiency. Ability to analyze complex datasets and generate actionable insights. Reporting & Visualization Significant experience as a BI Consultant (minimum 3 years). Strong expertise with Microsoft Power BI. Demonstrated experience with reporting tools. Expertise in dashboard and report development.

Strong understanding of: Data visualization principles User experience and ergonomics Data storytelling Information design Experience with SAS Visual Analytics is an advantage. Microsoft Power BI certification (or equivalent data visualization certification) is an asset. Data Governance & Modern Data Concepts
