Senior Lead Software Engineer - DevOps/Integration Specialist (Equities Electronic Trading)

Location: London Contract: Inside IR35 Day Rate: Up to £495 per day Working Pattern: 5 days on site

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lead Software Engineer/DevOps Integration Specialist to join a high-performing Equities Electronic Trading technology team within a global investment banking environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong DevOps, automation and integration expertise who has worked within electronic trading platforms and understands the demands of low-latency, high-availability financial systems.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in designing, building and supporting continuous integration and automated testing solutions for critical electronic trading platforms. Working within an Agile team, you’ll help deliver secure, scalable and highly resilient trading technology used across global equities markets.

You’ll collaborate closely with development teams, business analysts, operations and Front Office stakeholders to improve deployment processes, automate testing and support production trading environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and enhance Continuous Integration (CI) environments.
• Develop automation for testing, deployment and operational processes.
• Support integration across Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office trading platforms.
• Manage application releases and production deployments.
• Perform client onboarding, venue certification and exchange connectivity testing.
• Execute end-to-end integration testing across trading applications.
• Configure and support trading applications and downstream systems.
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, operations and trading teams to deliver robust solutions.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years’ Software Engineering/DevOps/Integration experience.
• Strong commercial experience within Investment Banking Electronic Trading.
• Excellent Scripting and automation skills using:
• Python
• Unix/Linux Shell
• Java
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of application integration and operational support.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting production environments and release management.
• Banking environment experience

Highly Desirable

• Commercial and Investment Banking experience.
• Equities Electronic Trading experience.
• Knowledge of:
• FIX Protocol
• Order Management Systems (OMS)
• Smart Order Routers (SOR)
• Algorithmic Trading
• DMA/Sponsored DMA
• Dark Pools
• Exchange Connectivity
• Risk Controls
• Matching Engines
• Experience with venue certification and exchange connectivity.
• Knowledge of kdb+/q.
