Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Computer Vision Engineer to take a leading technical role within a team developing advanced computer vision, perception and autonomous navigation technologies.

You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, from algorithm design and subsystem architecture through to verification, testing and deployment, while also providing technical guidance to other engineers.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex technical problems involving sensing, perception and autonomous systems, collaborating closely with Systems, GNC, Flight Dynamics, Software and Hardware teams.

The Role

  • Design and develop advanced computer vision algorithms for object detection, tracking and 6DoF pose estimation.
  • Contribute to computer vision subsystem architecture, requirements and performance budgets.
  • Support the selection, procurement and integration of LiDAR and camera systems.
  • Lead and contribute to verification and validation activities, including performance assessment and requirements verification.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop and integrated system testing.
  • Support the integration of computer vision algorithms into embedded and flight software.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure software and hardware performance and compatibility.
  • Review engineering work and provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Research and evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision technologies.
  • Contribute to system-level engineering activities, including FMECA and FDIR.
  • Help develop robust, reliable and scalable computer vision solutions.

Requirements

You’ll be an experienced Computer Vision Engineer with a strong track record of developing algorithms and taking them through validation and deployment., * Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or another relevant discipline.

  • 5+ years’ industrial or research experience in computer vision algorithm development and deployment.
  • Strong understanding of computer vision, image processing, machine learning and deep learning.
  • Proven experience taking computer vision algorithms from concept through to validation and deployment.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C and/or C++.
  • Experience with OpenCV, TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
  • Strong understanding of camera and LiDAR technologies.
  • Experience with software testing and integration.
  • Good understanding of Git and software configuration management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.

Desirable Experience

The following would be particularly valuable:

  • Experience with vision-based navigation or perception for space systems.
  • Experience within space, aerospace, robotics or autonomous systems.
  • Knowledge of rigid-body dynamics and kinematics.
  • Experience with sensor fusion and multi-sensor perception.
  • LiDAR signal processing.
  • Embedded C/C++ development, particularly in safety-critical environments.
  • ROS, ROS2 or similar robotics middleware.
  • HIL testing and integrated system campaigns.
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
