Job description

IBM Power Associate Consulting Engineer will partner with our lead engineers to:

  • Rack and cable IBM Power servers
  • Experience with Operating Systems
  • Identify and quantify risks and potential impacts to various data migration strategies within a customer’s environment
  • Coordinate all migration activities with implementation project team(s) to ensure an efficient, effective, and integrated approach to data migration activities.
  • Define the data migration plan for each solution, working with legacy system and new system to design and create the mechanism to extract, cleanse, transform, enrich, load and validate all required data for the successful implementation and operation of the new solutions
  • Work with the customer’s technology subject matter experts to validate post migration test plans and if necessary, participate in execution of those test plans during the migration period
  • Identify, configure, test, and operate migration tools determined necessary for a successful migration
  • Work closely with solution architects and technology engineer(s) to define the target data model(s), compliance requirements, protection strategy, backup and recovery, and retention requirements, * Have you worked with more than one operating system in the past? If so, which ones?
  • Have you ever set up new user accounts in Linux or another operating system?
  • Have you ever been responsible for operations or administration of a multi-user computer system?
  • Have you ever had to restore a computer system from backups, starting with a base installation of the operating system?
  • Can you define how TCP/IP subnetting works?
  • Have you been responsible for configuring TCP/IP networking in an environment with multiple subnets, routers, and firewalls?
  • Have you had to manage security in an environment where you had to manage different groups of privileged users, operators, and unprivileged users?
  • Have you ever administered or implemented a virtualized server (storage and networking) environment? Which platform?
  • Have you ever installed, administered, or upgraded an operating system environment on a PC or a server? Which OS?
  • Have you ever built your own PC or server at home or for work? Installed or replaced hardware components, i.e., hard drives, memory, PCI adapters, power supplies, etc.?
  • Have you ever set up & configured a user environment on a system?
  • Are you open to working a 6 week contract with the chance of being hired on to a full-time salaried position?

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Tooling?, * Authorized to work in the United States; immigration sponsorship (H-1B, TN, etc.) is not currently available for this position.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Physically able to lift up to 75 lbs. of equipment
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (can vary by location)

Pay Rate: $25-30/hr.

-They are going to have 3 resources work and will bring the best one full time after 6 weeks. So will be a bit competitive.

-50% travel (Travel paid) after 6 weeks to the hired individual, * 401(k)
