Job description

Perform unskilled to skilled workers to maintain and repair stormwater pipes and structures and related equipment for the Authority’s stormwater utility., * Inspects, installs, and repairs stormwater pipes, catch basins, ditches, and other systems used in the collection, storage, and transmittal of stormwater runoff

  • Inspect stormwater pipes and structures for defects and clogging problems and records finding.
  • Inspects, cleans, and mows Macon Levee/Public Detention Ponds
  • Locates stormwater structures; maintains cleanliness of stormwater pipes, catch basins, and ditches.
  • Drives automotive equipment to job location, places barricades and signals at the worksite.
  • Picks up and delivers various materials, equipment and supplies; maintains supply of inventories on trucks and shops; assists in loading and unloading items hauled.
  • On-call for emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the maintenance and repair of pipes and structures.
  • Understands the use of common hand and power tools.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping.
  • Ability to carry 50 to 80 pounds or more. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather or working conditions.
  • It may occasionally require climbing and may involve traveling over various terrains.
  • Ability to grasp and hold.

  • Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.
  • Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic).
  • Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights.
  • Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar.
