Job description
This role is responsible for defining, managing and delivering system-level requirements and solutions across Kraken’s autonomous maritime platforms. You’ll work across multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring complex systems are developed, integrated and verified in line with customer requirements, operational needs and regulatory standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and wants to play a key role in the development of innovative maritime technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, define and manage system-level requirements and traceability
- Translate customer needs into structured technical requirements
- Develop and maintain system architectures and Concepts of Operation (CONOPS)
- Support the decomposition of requirements to subsystem and component level
- Manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical, software and payload subsystems
- Support the development and maintenance of Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Participate in system and subsystem design reviews
- Plan and support integration, verification and validation activities
- Support system testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding
- Identify and manage technical risks and mitigation activities
- Support configuration management and change control processes
- Liaise with customers and stakeholders on technical matters
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems engineering processes
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
- Understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to manage and document technical requirements effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience interpreting technical specifications and documentation
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Desirable:
- Experience supporting system architecture development
- Experience with integration, verification and validation activities
- Familiarity with requirements management tools
- Knowledge of interface management and ICDs
- Experience within maritime, defence, robotics or autonomous systems
- Familiarity with regulated or safety-critical engineering environments, Due to the nature of our work many of our roles require a UK nationality and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
