Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, customer support and product improvement, collaborating with software, electrical, mechanical, systems and IT specialists across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as the engineering lead for technical support issues beyond standard troubleshooting
  • Investigating and resolving complex technical problems to identify root causes
  • Managing and maintaining the technical support ticket database
  • Prioritising and tracking customer issues through to resolution
  • Providing remote and occasional on-site customer support
  • Analysing support trends and identifying recurring product issues
  • Working with engineering specialists across multiple disciplines to coordinate resolutions
  • Recommending product and process improvements based on customer feedback and support data
  • Creating technical guides, knowledge articles and troubleshooting documentation
  • Following support processes and ensuring accurate record keeping
  • Collaborating with software, systems, electrical and mechanical engineering teams to deliver effective solutions

Requirements

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline
  • Experience working in a technical role within an engineering organisation
  • Ability to understand and analyse complex systems spanning mechanical, electrical, software and networking domains
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Highly organised with a structured and process-driven approach
  • Strong IT skills
  • Understanding of systems thinking and system-level problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively within a small, multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Strong attention to detail and configuration management practices

It would be great if you also have

  • Experience within maritime, automotive or aerospace sectors
  • Experience working with autonomous or robotic systems
  • Knowledge of communications networks including CAN, IP and Serial protocols
  • Understanding of RF communications, MANET, 4G/5G and satellite communications
  • Basic electrical engineering skills, particularly low-voltage vehicle systems
  • Experience supporting customers through remote support technologies
