Job description

The Manufacturing Technical Training Developer is responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining engaging training materials that support production employees in performing their jobs safely, consistently, and efficiently. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to document manufacturing processes and convert them into clear, standardized learning resources through a variety of avenues. The ideal candidate is highly organized, creative, and self-directed, with strong technical writing, multimedia production, and project management skills. This individual will help build a comprehensive training library that includes videos, photographs, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and digital learning content., Training Content Development

  • Observe and document manufacturing processes across production departments.
  • Develop standardized training programs for production roles.
  • Create step-by-step work instructions, SOPs, visual job aids, process maps, and training manuals.
  • Translate complex manufacturing processes into easy-to-follow instructional content.
  • Ensure all materials reflect current best practices and standardized work.

Multimedia Production

  • Capture and edit high-quality instructional videos and photographs.
  • Create voice-over demonstrations and screen recordings when appropriate.
  • Produce engaging digital learning materials using video, graphics, animation, and presentation software.
  • Maintain a library of visual training assets., * Upload, organize, and maintain training content within the Learning Management System (LMS) or internal training platform.
  • Ensure documents are version controlled and easily accessible.
  • Update training materials whenever processes change., * Partner closely with Human Resources to support onboarding, orientation, and employee development.
  • Work directly with Production Supervisors, Engineers, Quality, and Subject Matter Experts to validate training accuracy.
  • Gather feedback from employees and leadership to continuously improve learning effectiveness.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through employee feedback and performance observations.
  • Recommend improvements to training methods and materials.
  • Support standardization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Assist with documentation required for audits, certifications, and compliance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Manufacturing Technology, Communications, Education, Human Resources, Technical Writing, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent manufacturing experience combined with strong training and multimedia skills will be considered., * Experience creating training materials within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with technical writing and process documentation.
  • Experience creating and editing instructional videos.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred.
