Job description

We are seeking an accomplished Interim Executive Director to lead the transformation of its Network Infrastructure Services division. This executive leadership role is focused on stabilizing operations, driving organizational change, rebuilding culture, improving accountability, and preparing the department for long-term success under permanent leadership., * Provide executive leadership for the Network Infrastructure Services division.

  • Lead large-scale organizational transformation and culture change initiatives.
  • Evaluate organizational structure, staffing, operational processes, and service delivery.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve organizational performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Restructure reporting relationships, staffing models, and departmental responsibilities as needed.
  • Drive accountability, performance management, coaching, and employee development.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, corrective actions, and workforce planning.
  • Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and operational priorities.
  • Develop governance frameworks, communication strategies, and decision-making processes.
  • Improve collaboration across university departments and executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, security standards, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Remove operational barriers and implement sustainable management practices.
  • Prepare executive reports, strategic recommendations, transition plans, and succession planning documentation.
  • Mentor leadership staff and support long-term organizational readiness.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive with a proven background in enterprise IT leadership, organizational transformation, change management, operational excellence, and executive-level stakeholder engagement., * Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of executive leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of executive organizational transformation and change management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years leading organizational restructuring and culture change initiatives.
  • Minimum 3 years managing large, complex enterprise technology organizations.
  • Experience leading personnel management, executive coaching, performance management, and organizational accountability.
  • Strong leadership, communication, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading organizational turnaround initiatives.
  • Experience rebuilding organizational culture following periods of operational instability.
  • Experience implementing governance frameworks and operational maturity models.
  • Higher education leadership experience.
  • Enterprise IT strategy development experience.
  • Experience working with executive leadership teams, governing boards, and cabinet-level executives.
  • Knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure, IT operations, project management, and change management.
  • Experience supporting audit remediation, compliance, and enterprise risk management.

  • 100% Onsite in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • 9-month executive contract with extension potential.
