- Clear Vision: Ensure we have a clearly documented vision for each product, both in the short and long term so that we have a clear picture of its value both now and in the future and how it supports our strategy. Champion and articulate that vision when managing stakeholder expectations and requirements.
- Backlog Ownership: Maintain and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring clarity, alignment, and readiness for our Data Engineering teams. You will help translate complex or ambiguous needs into actionable user stories and outcomes, supporting teams to deliver high-quality, reliable, and intuitive data product
- Requirement Shaping: Work with stakeholders to refine needs into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and outcomes, playing back clearly to ensure they meet the business demands.
- Value Focus: Ensure each increment delivers meaningful business value, balancing short-term needs with long-term strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships across the business, communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs with confidence.
- Continuous Improvement: Use feedback, data, and insights to refine processes, enhance product performance, and improve team ways of working. Ensure we have a clear view of velocity and throughput, as well as quality so that we can constantly refine the way we operate., Our Product Owners play a central role in delivering that vision. By laying out a clear picture of what we are building and why, they ensure we’re focused on the right things to produce world-class data products and data assets that directly support Sky’s strategy
Product Owners are key members of our teams, responsible for defining and delivering data products that support Sky’s strategic goals. You will work closely with engineers, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to understand needs, shape requirements, and ensure that each product increment delivers meaningful value.
We have an exciting Product Owner role within our Residential Products domain which sits within the Customer directorate in Sky Data. The role will be supporting both our TV & Protect and Connectivity squads which operate within SAFe Value Streams.
Requirements
- Product Management: Experience of product management, preferably in complex data-driven organisations. You must have experience in managing multiple backlogs.
- Engagement: Experience in establishing Product and Agile ways of working, and leading and facilitating Agile ceremonies and have experience in building data as a product. You’ll be used to owning and managing multiple products concurrently across a range of stakeholders.
- Delivery Focus: Experienced in Agile delivery, leading in quarterly PI planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, prioritisation and iterative product development. You must have experience of using Jira or other online workflow tools.
- Communication: Able to explain complex concepts simply, tailoring messages for technical and nontechnical audiences and clearly articulating trade-offs and impacts.
- Highly proficient in PowerPoint presentations to articulate wider visions and storytelling of our products.
- Data Literacy: Comfortable working with data, understanding metrics, and using insights to inform decisions and validate outcomes. Good level of SQL knowledge required.
- Customer Insight: Understands user needs and behaviours and lead teams in showcasing our products in correct forums. Experience in Tableau or other visualisation tools is required.
