Job description

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining critical infrastructure and wants a long-term career in facilities rather than pursuing a traditional IT career path., The position is responsible for maintaining the reliability, cleanliness, safety, and professional appearance of our Seattle data center.

This position will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot HVAC and electrical systems, coordinate vendors, support customers, and ensure our facility remains organized and customer-ready at all times.

Travel to our Dallas data center will be required for projects, equipment installations, maintenance activities, training, and operational support. Travel may be planned in advance or required on short notice, depending on business needs.

Data center experience is not required. We will provide training on server hardware and customer remote hands services.

Primary Responsibilities:

Critical Facilities Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot CRAC units, condensers, split systems, and ventilation equipment. Monitor UPS systems, generators, PDUs, electrical panels, and power distribution. Respond to facility alarms and equipment failures. Assist with electrical troubleshooting up to 480V. Coordinate and supervise contractors performing maintenance or repairs. Maintain maintenance logs and documentation. Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and emergency response when required. Assist with infrastructure upgrades and facility improvement projects.

Data Center Operations (Training Provided) Install and remove servers, switches, and network equipment. Rack and stack equipment. Perform customer remote hands services. Replace hard drives, memory, power supplies, and other hardware. Install and label power and network cabling. Maintain inventory and spare parts. Escort customers and vendors. Follow data center operational procedures and security policies. Facility Appearance & Housekeeping Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional facility is a core responsibility of this position.

Responsibilities include: Perform daily facility walkthroughs. Ensure customer-facing areas always look professional. Keep the data center white space clean and organized. Maintain mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, warehouse, storage areas, and loading dock. Vacuum and mop floors as needed. Remove trash and recycling. Organize tools, spare parts, and inventory. Ensure work areas are left clean after maintenance. Coordinate with janitorial vendors and others and verify work quality. Identify and correct facility issues that negatively affect the appearance of the site. Cover other Technician shift as needed. (normally 13 hour shift from 4am-4:30pm or 4pm-4:30am) We believe customers judge a data center not only by its uptime, but also by how well the facility is maintained.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Facilities / Data Center Lead Technician with a strong background in HVAC, electrical systems, and facility maintenance. We will train the right candidate on data center operations., Minimum 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: Commercial HVAC Industrial maintenance Building engineering Critical facilities Electrical maintenance Mechanical maintenance Experience troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems. Experience working with 208V and 480V electrical systems. Ability to read electrical diagrams and equipment manuals. Experience using multimeters, clamp meters, and common diagnostic tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Professional customer service attitude. Valid driver’s license.

Required Qualification: EPA 608 Certification

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Liebert, Vertiv, Stulz, Data Aire, or similar precision cooling systems Experience with UPS systems and generators Building Automation System (BMS) experience Basic networking or server hardware knowledge

Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds. Climb ladders. Work around HVAC, electrical, and mechanical equipment. Occasionally work after hours, weekends, or holidays during maintenance windows or emergencies.
