Job description
We at Gigafactory Berlin Design and Construction are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM), EPC to join a fast-paced, high-impact environment. In this role, you will drive complex EPC programs from early planning through execution and handover, aligning engineering, construction, procurement, and operations stakeholders around clear scope, schedule, and delivery milestones. You will bring strong technical judgment across industrial and utility-related scopes, lead cross-functional problem-solving, and keep multi-workstream programs moving with discipline, transparency, and ownership-so the site can scale safely, on time, and to Tesla standards. What You’ll Do
- Review design requirements and business cases handed over from the Factory Planning team and assess them from an EPC feasibility perspective
- Challenge ambiguous, incomplete, or unrealistic user requirements; drive alignment to clear, accurate, and implementable inputs before detailed engineering starts
- Translate validated stakeholder/planning requirements into clear project scope, design boundaries, and responsibility interfaces for EPC engineers
- Enable engineers to start design on a solid basis (complete, consistent, and technically realistic inputs)
- Once design inputs are fully updated and agreed, execute a clean and accurate handover to the Design Manager (DM) so detailed design can start without rework
- Coordinate cross-functional clarification loops with Factory Planning, manufacturing, operations, logistics, EHS, permitting, and facilities where inputs conflict or lack definition
- Lead structured technical evaluations and trade-off assessments as data-driven input to scope and design decisions
- Maintain clear documentation of agreed inputs, assumptions, exclusions, and open points through design kickoff
- Prepare concise status and decision materials for leadership on scope readiness, open challenges, and design-start gate status
Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree strongly preferred (Industrial, Electrical, Process, or related engineering also considered); MS a plus
- +5 years of experience in EPC program/project management and/or technical program leadership on large industrial or manufacturing facility programs
- Proven ability to review design/planning inputs for constructability and EPC feasibility, and to challenge requirements constructively
- Solid understanding of plant/facility design processes, construction sequencing, equipment installation, and design-to-build interfaces
- Experience defining scope boundaries and RACI between planning, engineering, and execution teams
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills; comfortable making and defending technical trade-offs
- Excellent communication, influencing, and cross-functional alignment skills; able to push back professionally and drive decisions on time
- Strong organization, prioritization, and stakeholder management in a fast-changing factory environment
- Working knowledge of technical tools: CAD (viewing/mark-up), Microsoft Project (or equivalent), Microsoft Office
- BIM-based project experience preferred
- Experience in battery and/or pharma industry projects preferred
- Fluent English required; German is a plus
