Job description

To conform to U.S. export control regulations, requirements of this position include being eligible to work with export-controlled products and related data without restriction.

The Vice President of Engineering is responsible for leading all engineering functions at CDA InterCorp, including design and test engineering, with full accountability for technical execution, team performance, and engineering-driven business results.

This role is both a builder and operator, responsible for improving current execution while establishing a scalable engineering organization capable of supporting high-rate production programs and recurring revenue growth. The VP of Engineering will drive a high-accountability culture aligned with CDA principles, while elevating technical rigor across motors, actuators, and transducer product lines.

Success in this role requires a leader who combines deep technical credibility, hands-on leadership, and a strong bias for action, with the ability to translate engineering capability into improved yield, throughput, and business performance.

This role will establish a disciplined, scalable engineering organization capable of supporting both new product development and high-rate production programs within the defense and aerospace markets. The VP of Engineering will drive technical rigor, improve engineering accountability, and ensure alignment with business objectives, enabling predictable execution, margin performance, and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ~9 engineers, including direct oversight of Design Engineering and Test Engineering, with full accountability for performance, output, and team development
  • Establish a high-performance, results-driven culture grounded in ownership, accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement

Drive improvements in:

  • Design quality and robustness to improve yield and reduce rework
  • Test efficiency and throughput, including automation and process optimization
  • Engineering productivity and execution discipline
  • Cross-functional coordination and maximization across the design and manufacturing life-cycle
  • Own the full engineering lifecycle across CDA’s product portfolio, ensuring alignment between design, test, and production
  • Apply strong design for manufacturability and production mindset, ensuring all products can be built efficiently at scale
  • Act as the technical authority in customer engagements, supporting growth, credibility, and program capture
  • Support efforts, including technical inputs, compliance, and alignment to pricing and risk assumptions
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to support production readiness, rate increases, and make vs buy decisions
  • Own engineering inputs to business performance, including impact to EBITDA, production throughput, and program execution
  • Ensure discipline in systems engineering, configuration management, and reliability / failure analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 12+ years of progressive engineering experience, including prior leadership of engineering teams
  • Strong technical background in electromechanical systems, with experience in motors, actuators, or similar products

Ability to operate at both:

  • Component-level technical depth (challenging designs, improving performance), and
  • System-level execution and leadership
  • Experience supporting both new product development and production environments
  • Demonstrated success improving engineering efficiency, yield, and test throughput
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and upgrade teams in a high-accountability, performance-driven culture
  • Experience working cross-functionally to drive business outcomes, including customer engagement and proposal support

Preferred:

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability environments
  • Familiarity with qualification and validation processes
  • Exposure to ITAR / export-controlled environments
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. CDA will require proof of status prior to employment.
