Job description

The Product Development & Process Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, testing, and improvement of ADAboy’s vehicle upfit products, installation methods, custom components, and production processes. This role works closely with Production and Leadership to identify opportunities for innovation, improve production efficiency, and support scalable growth initiatives.

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of ADAboy’s production environment, vehicle builds, and installation methods. During the initial training period, the Specialist will work alongside Van Accessibility Technicians to gain a thorough understanding of production workflow, installation processes, and operational challenges.

The role also supports development of custom parts, fabrication solutions, vendor/manufacturer coordination, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization., * Work alongside Van Accessibility Technicians during the onboarding/training period to learn ADAboy build processes, production workflow, and installation methods

  • Assist with development, testing, and improvement of new products, custom components, fabrication solutions, and installation methods
  • Research and evaluate materials, products, vendors, and manufacturing solutions to support operational and production goals
  • Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers regarding custom parts, prototypes, and outsourced production solutions
  • Assist with prototype builds, product testing, and implementation of new processes or components
  • Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, workflow, organization, quality, and scalability
  • Collaborate with Production, Inventory, and Leadership teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with development and maintenance of SOPs, installation procedures, process documentation, and build standards
  • Evaluate recurring production issues and recommend corrective actions or process improvements
  • Support implementation of new tools, systems, layouts, or production methods
  • Maintain organized documentation related to product development, testing, and process changes
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations

Requirements

Do you have experience in Vendor relationship management?, * 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automotive upfitting, product development, process improvement, or related technical fields preferred

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Experience working in hands-on production or custom manufacturing environments preferred
  • Ability to identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, fabricators, or outsourced manufacturers preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Comfortable working in both office and production/shop environments
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, documentation, spreadsheets, and process tracking
  • Experience with CAD, design software, fabrication drawings, or prototype development is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in and around vehicles or production areas as needed
  • Ability to lift and move materials, components, or tools up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a production/shop environment with tools, equipment, noise, and dust
