Job description

Arbour Business Consultancy is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Senior Cloud Engineer to join our cloud advisory and delivery practice in London. Working alongside Cloud Architects, DevOps Engineers, Software Developers, and Security Leads, you will drive cloud-native transformations, implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automate CI/CD release pipelines. This position balances hands-on technical engineering with strategic governance, offering opportunities to mentor junior engineers and shape cloud adoption strategies across prominent UK enterprise projects., * Cloud Architecture & Implementation: Design, deploy, and scale highly available, fault-tolerant cloud environments across AWS and Microsoft Azure.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate resource provisioning and infrastructure lifecycle management using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Automation: Build, maintain, and optimize secure deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/AKS), ensuring optimal cluster performance, scaling, and operational security.
  • Cloud Security & Compliance: Enforce Zero Trust security principles, IAM policies, network security groups, and encryption standards, aligning with UK GDPR and ISO 27001 guidelines.
  • FinOps & Performance Optimization: Audit cloud workloads continuously to monitor utilization, optimize cost structures, and implement performance-tuning best practices.
  • Mentorship & Governance: Author reusable technical patterns, establish operational documentation, and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior cloud engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Infrastructure Automation Engineer role.
  • Deep technical proficiency in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS or Microsoft Azure).
  • Proven track record using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, specifically Terraform.
  • Strong experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts in the cloud (VPCs/VNets, Load Balancers, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, DNS, and VPNs).
  • Hands-on experience configuring modern CI/CD pipelines for cloud application deployment.

Desirable

  • Relevant Professional Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional/Associate), AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
  • Experience with FinOps and cloud cost-optimization tools.
  • Understanding of multi-cloud architectures and hybrid deployment strategies.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
