Job description

We are seeking an experienced Information & Samples Coordinator to support an energy organisation based in Barrow-in-Furness.

The Information & Samples Coordinator will act as the key company focal point for the NSTA in relation to regulatory compliance covering subsurface, wells, decommissioning, production and infrastructure data, as well as physical samples and records.

This is an important role supporting the full asset lifecycle, with a particular focus on end-of-life assets, decommissioning, legacy data and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring information and samples obligations are delivered accurately, on time and in accordance with relevant regulatory and corporate requirements., As an Information & Samples Coordinator, you will:

  • Act as the main point of contact with the NSTA Data Compliance team.
  • Lead timely and accurate NSTA statutory submissions.
  • Manage Infrastructure GIS submissions, Stewardship Surveys and decommissioning and relinquishment data reporting.
  • Support CoP production reporting and WIOS data corrections.
  • Manage WUNS/WONS data creation and reconciliation.
  • Respond to Missing Data Requests and Section 34 Notices within required deadlines.
  • Coordinate legacy and decommissioning data submission plans.
  • Prepare for future NSTA Calls for Data.
  • Manage digital data submissions to the National Data Repository (NDR).
  • Oversee seismic, site survey, wellbore and legacy datasets.
  • Manage physical samples and archives, including retention, transfer and disposal.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting to the British Geological Survey (BGS).
  • Produce, maintain and track Information & Samples Plans (ISP).
  • Support GIS and mapping requirements associated with decommissioning and relinquishment activities.
  • Ensure ISP commitments are delivered and remain fully auditable.
  • Support subsurface and wells teams with data availability, accessibility and integration.
  • Work closely with IS, Information Management, Wells, Decommissioning, Legal and Commercial teams.
  • Act as a central point of contact for Information & Samples coordination.
  • Support UKCS Licensing activities and events.
  • Act as a key user and focal point for NDR, PEARS and other relevant UK Energy Portal systems.
  • Promote effective end-of-life data management across the organisation.

Requirements

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Strong experience in subsurface, wells and decommissioning data management.
  • Experience working within the energy/oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of Information & Samples requirements and relevant Energy Act regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience working with NSTA regulatory requirements and submissions.
  • Established data management experience across multiple subsurface and wells data formats.
  • Experience with technical software packages and application projects.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage regulatory deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working within or alongside Energy Operators.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified, preferably in Earth Sciences or Computing Science.
  • Relevant industry experience will also be considered alongside formal qualifications.
