Job description

This is a hands-on role for someone who can understand a business problem, find a technology solution and then build it, integrate it or implement it.

If an existing system can do the job, you’ll connect it. If it can be automated, you’ll automate it. And if the solution doesn’t exist, you’ll build it.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of how technology and systems work together across Embrace Care.

Working closely with senior leaders and teams across the organisation, you’ll identify where technology can save time, improve processes, reduce administration and help us scale., * Connecting systems - integrating our existing platforms so information flows between them automatically

  • Building new solutions - developing bespoke applications, tools and systems when an off-the-shelf solution isn’t right for us
  • Automation - identifying repetitive or inefficient processes and turning them into automated workflows
  • AI & emerging technology - exploring and implementing practical ways AI can improve how we work
  • Data & databases - creating and managing reliable systems that allow us to use our data effectively
  • Scaling technology - helping us build a technology infrastructure that can grow alongside the organisation
  • Problem solving - working with teams to understand what’s not working and finding better ways to do it
  • Implementation - working with software providers, developers and internal teams to successfully introduce new technology

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

No two days will necessarily look the same.

One day you could be building an internal application because no existing software meets our needs.

The next, you could be connecting two existing systems using an API, creating an automated workflow that saves the team hours every week, or exploring how AI could improve a process.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical skills with business and problem-solving ability.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong experience in software development, particularly backend development
  • Experience building and integrating APIs, webhooks and automated workflows
  • Good knowledge of databases, data structures and system architecture
  • Experience connecting multiple software platforms and making systems work together
  • Experience building bespoke applications, internal tools or other software solutions
  • Experience with automation platforms such as Make, Zapier or Power Automate
  • An interest in AI and emerging technology, with a focus on practical business applications
  • The ability to understand a business process and identify how technology could improve it
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Experience managing projects from initial idea through to implementation

Experience with programming languages such as C#, Java, Go, TypeScript, C++ or similar would be beneficial.

Most Importantly…

We’re looking for someone who is curious, practical and solutions-focused.

You should enjoy learning new technology, experimenting with new ideas and finding smarter ways of working.

You’ll have genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape the technology strategy of a small but growing organisation, rather than simply maintaining systems that already exist.
