Job description

We are looking for a talented C++ Networking Engineer to join our team. You will be a key contributor to upcoming video games, responsible for designing, implementing, augmenting, and optimising robust, scalable, and low-latency network features and systems for a proprietary AAA game engine. A primary focus will be on developing and maintaining multiplayer server architecture, with particular expertise in listen mode game servers. You will ensure efficient and reliable networking technology to facilitate innovative and engaging player experiences. This role requires thoroughness in every aspect of development to provide a solid foundation for exceptional gameplay.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C++. strong maths skills with experience in networking or game development.
  • Strong experience with multiplayer network architecture, particularly listen mode game servers.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain robust, high-performance networking systems within game environments.
  • A genuine passion for video games and a desire to contribute to creating engaging and enjoyable experiences for players.
  • Eagerness to learn about other technologies and practices to stay current and versatile.

What You May Also Have:

  • Experience working with proprietary AAA game engines.
  • Experience developing for current-generation consoles (e.g., Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5) is a plus.
  • Experience working with larger teams and/or collaborating on large projects.
  • Previous experience working with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, provide support, and problem solve.

About the company

Please note that this is a hybrid position based in Brighton or Cardiff, requiring 3 days onsite each week, with the option for remote work on the remaining days. We would also consider remote applications.
