This is a unique opportunity to build a career in engineering performance, working alongside senior engineering leaders to improve the performance of buildings across national property portfolios.

Using data, smart technology and engineering insight, you’ll help optimise maintenance strategies, compliance, energy efficiency, asset reliability and occupier experience, with a clear development pathway towards becoming an Engineering Performance Manager., Engineering Performance

  • Analyse how buildings are operating against their intended performance and identify inefficiencies, system conflicts and unnecessary plant operation.
  • Support the move from traditional planned maintenance to intelligent, performance-led strategies.
  • Work with engineering teams to resolve complex issues through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Help develop engineering strategies that balance compliance, cost, energy efficiency, reliability and occupier experience.

Commercial Awareness

  • Understand how engineering decisions affect operational risk, asset reliability and commercial performance.
  • Identify waste across maintenance, energy consumption and service delivery.
  • Validate maintenance effectiveness and support evidence-based business cases for improvement initiatives.

Technology& Data

  • Analyse information from CAFM, Building Management Systems and engineering analytics platforms.
  • Identify trends and translate building data into clear dashboards, reports and practical recommendations.
  • Gain exposure to IoT and smart building technologies while helping improve the quality of asset and system data.

Engineering, Risk & Compliance

  • Develop practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services, including HVAC, electrical, water and control systems.
  • Participate in engineering and site audits, identifying gaps between documented compliance and actual site conditions.
  • Support statutory compliance and review key risk documentation, including Water and Fire Risk Assessments, RAMS and COSHH.
  • Build an understanding of lifecycle planning and asset management while producing clear technical reports for senior stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or a relevant engineering apprenticeship.
  • Up to three years’ experience within engineering, facilities management or another technical environment, with internships and placements considered.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret engineering data and identify trends.
  • Interest in engineering systems, building performance, smart buildings and technology.
  • Developing understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems, including HVAC, electrical, water and controls.
  • Comfortable questioning information and constructively challenging assumptions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce clear technical reports and summaries.
  • Passion for engineering performance, technology and continuous improvement.
