VMware Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Analyst / VMware Engineer to design, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware VDI infrastructure in a 100% onsite environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon, vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, Windows VDI, networking, storage, and virtual desktop administration., * Design, build, administer, and maintain VMware VDI environments.

• Create, configure, and maintain VDI master images and virtual machines.
• Administer VMware Horizon, vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, DRS, HA, and vMotion.
• Perform VMware migrations, upgrades, patches, and system maintenance.
• Install software, service packs, security updates, and application components within VDI environments.
• Manage NFS/Isilon storage, exports, monitoring, alerts, and job failures.
• Troubleshoot Windows, VDI, networking, application, and virtualization issues.
• Support VDI deployments, server repairs/replacements, and software rollouts.
• Track incidents, requests, and assigned activities using ServiceNow and Rally.

Experience: 4-10 Years VDI Experience: 3+ Years on Windows Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, * 3+ years of hands-on Windows VDI experience

• VMware ESXi/ESX, vSphere, vCenter and Horizon
• VMware DRS, HA and vMotion
• VMware migrations, upgrades and VDI administration
• Windows Server, DNS and DHCP
• RHEL/Linux fundamentals
• NFS and Isilon storage
• Cloud Volumes and vGPU
• Amazon WorkSpaces
• VDI Master Image creation and software installation
• ServiceNow and Rally
• VDI troubleshooting and infrastructure support, * 4-10 years of relevant IT/Infrastructure experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Windows VDI experience.
• Strong VMware virtualization and VDI administration experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and infrastructure support skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Schenectady, NY.
