Job description

Seeking experienced Network Engineer - Project Leads to support enterprise network operations and infrastructure in a large campus environment. This role focuses on network engineering, troubleshooting, security, field deployment, maintenance, and technical leadership., Network Operations & Infrastructure

  • Monitor, maintain, and support enterprise wired and wireless networks.
  • Configure, deploy, rack, stack, cable, and test network equipment.
  • Support switching, routing, wireless connectivity, and network performance.
  • Perform field installations and infrastructure deployments.

Network Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot network equipment both remotely and onsite.
  • Validate configurations, coordinate repairs, and escalate complex issues when required.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours support.

Network Maintenance

  • Perform upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and performance optimization.
  • Support network migrations and lifecycle replacement projects.
  • Minimize service interruptions while following operational best practices.

Security & Access

  • Support firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and other network security technologies.
  • Assist with security incident troubleshooting and response.
  • Support NAC and MFA environments.

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, incident records, and runbooks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, security, infrastructure teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of enterprise networking experience.
  • 2+ years configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and Fortinet devices.
  • 2+ years troubleshooting network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
  • 2+ years working with firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and network security.
  • 2+ years installing and supporting network infrastructure, including racking, stacking, cabling, and testing.
  • 2+ years maintaining network documentation, diagrams, and operational records.
  • Strong knowledge of OSPF, BGP, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and high-availability architectures., * Enterprise or higher-education network experience.
  • Wireless network administration in dense-user environments.
  • Experience with NAC, MFA, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Network monitoring, logging, and performance management tools.
  • Network automation using Python, Ansible, or APIs.
  • Experience with network upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle replacement.
  • ITIL experience with incident, problem, and change management.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS/JNCIP, ACNT, ACSA, ACMA, FCA, or FCP.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident.
  • Must be a South Carolina resident or willing to relocate to South Carolina before starting.
  • Fully onsite role - remote work is not available.
  • Must be available for on-call rotation and occasional after-hours maintenance/incident response.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership during operational incidents.
