Job description

Perform day-to-day administration and support of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server environments.
Monitor database health, availability, storage, capacity, and performance.
Perform backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
Troubleshoot database performance issues, blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, and resource utilization.
Perform SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, and index maintenance.
Manage database security, users, roles, permissions, and access controls.
Support database migrations, upgrades, refreshes, and environment cloning.
Maintain SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance plans, alerts, and scheduled tasks.
Support high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, and log shipping.
Monitor and manage database storage, file growth, transaction logs, and capacity planning.
Work closely with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams to resolve production issues.
Support database deployments and release activities across development, QA, UAT, and production environments.
Develop and maintain SQL scripts for administration, troubleshooting, reporting, and automation.
Perform root-cause analysis for database incidents and implement corrective actions.
Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and standards.
Participate in production support and on-call activities as required.
Provide basic administration and support for PostgreSQL databases.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to support day-to-day database administration, maintenance, monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security, and production support activities.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and working knowledge of PostgreSQL., * Strong hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.

Experience with Always On Availability Groups / High Availability / Disaster Recovery.
Strong T-SQL and SQL scripting skills.
Experience with database migrations, upgrades, patching, and refreshes.
Experience troubleshooting production database issues.
Good understanding of Windows Server environments.
Experience working with enterprise monitoring and ticketing tools.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

PostgreSQL

Working knowledge of PostgreSQL administration.
Familiarity with PostgreSQL backup/recovery, user management, monitoring, configuration, and performance troubleshooting.
Experience supporting PostgreSQL in production is preferred but does not need to be the primary skill.
