Job description
Working as part of the Operations team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of live data centre environments, ensuring customer infrastructure is installed, maintained and supported to the highest standards., * Installing, relocating and decommissioning servers, networking equipment and associated hardware.
- Carrying out rack and stack activities within customer cabinets.
- Completing structured cabling, copper and fibre patching, and maintaining high standards of cable management.
- Providing remote hands support for customers and internal engineering teams.
- Assisting with hardware diagnostics, basic troubleshooting and infrastructure deployments.
- Supporting asset management, equipment audits and documentation.
- Assisting with change requests, planned maintenance and project work.
- Monitoring operational environments and escalating issues where required.
- Maintaining excellent customer service through clear communication and timely updates.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and security procedures.
Requirements
This opportunity would suit someone with a genuine passion for technology who enjoys working with computer hardware and wants to develop within a technical operations environment.
Suitable backgrounds include:
- Engineering graduates (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering).
- Computer Science or IT graduates.
- IT Support or Service Desk professionals.
- Infrastructure or Network Support Technicians.
- Hardware Repair or PC Build Technicians.
- Candidates with strong personal interests in building PCs, computer hardware or networking.
You’ll ideally have:
- A good understanding of computer hardware and networking fundamentals.
- Experience installing or troubleshooting PC components, servers or networking equipment, whether professionally, academically or as a hobby.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- A willingness to learn and develop within a growing organisation.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
