Job description
As our next Electrical Operative, you will be responsible for providing manual support for the installation of electrical systems on mission critical projects. The Electrical Operative will support qualified Electricians in the delivery of the projects, carrying out work as instructed on pre-energised equipment.
Primary Duties
- Electrical containment install - Cable Ladder, Cable Tray, Conduits, Trunking and other appropriate first fix electrical requirements including bracketry according to electrical standards.
- Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
- Advise management on continued use of unsuitable equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Install electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment.
- Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems (including power distribution equipment).
- Work on electrical failures and replace components wherever production time is often affected.
- Conduct preventive and maintenance programs, and also keeps maintenance records.
- Keep the worksite clean, tidy and free of hazards at all times.
- Ensure that correct PPE is worn at all time on site.
- Report any quality, safety or environmental concerns to Supervisor
Requirements
- Electrical trade qualification and/or relevant training.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting electrical system installations, on industrial or mission critical projects.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and legislation in the construction sector.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Key Competencies and Traits Required
- Ability to read mechanical containment, electrical single line and electrical layout drawings accurately.
- Ability to deliver electrical installations as per drawings.
- Must be physically fit and capable of traversing across sites with uneven terrain.
- Must be able to pass an accredited Colour Blindness Test (e.g: Ishihara).
- Ability to communicate proficiently in the English language, both orally and in writing.
- Understand the importance of safety and follow local site safety guidelines.
- Willing to travel - both nationally and internationally.
Also Desirable
- Experience working on Low, Medium and High Voltage systems.
- Prior exposure to large scale pharmaceutical or data centre construction experience .
- Electrical testing experience.
- Driving Licence (for car/van)
- Valid IPAF MEWP Licence and/or Training.
