Job description
We are looking for an Electric Vehicle Weekend Service Technical Specialist with a passion for product design, development, and customer engagement and a proven track record of supporting service technicians. Candidates are skilled at understanding electric vehicle technical functions and administering in-depth technical support to remotely based technicians. Candidates also bring a history of working with product engineering and manufacturing teams to create tools to educate and advance the knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair. This is a 4 day/10-hour position with standard hours of 8:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday through Monday. Position Responsibilities
- Assist technicians via phone, video call or in person with diagnosis and repair
- Assist in development of technical training materials including Troubleshooting Guides, R&R instructions, Service Manuals, Special Production Instructions, Retrofit Instructions, etc.
- Daily Technical support of Orange EV Field Service and Customer Technicians
- Hands-on collaboration with Manufacturing and Service Team Members
- Working integrally with the Product Engineering Departments on current and future product programs
- Service Diagnostic Computer and Tooling setup
Requirements

Bachelorās degree or Technical Certification in related field preferred.

4+ years of Automotive or related technical experience.

Occasional travel may be required.

High-voltage safety certification (e.g., NFPA 70E or OEM-specific HV credentials) preferred.

ASE L3 (Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle) or equivalent manufacturer-specific credentials preferred.

Physical requirements include occasional field work and ability to lift components up to 50lbs.
Key Technical Skills
- High-Voltage Safety: Mastery of āLockout/Tagoutā (LOTO) procedures and the āLive-Dead-Liveā testing methodology to ensure high-voltage systems (300V-800V) are safely de-energized before repair.
- Writing and Communication: Development and creation of written procedures and bulletins as well as live phone support of field technicians. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Technical writing experience is a plus.
- Battery Technology: Expertise in lithium-ion battery health, including cell balance, thermal management, and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Diagnostic Tools & Software: Proficiency with digital multimeters (DMMs), HV Isolation diagnostics, and Controller Area Network (CAN) diagnostics.
- Powertrain Systems: Understanding the interaction between inverters, controllers, and electric motors.
- Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems: Working knowledge of pneumatic braking systems and hydraulic power steering and component systems
