Job description
- Design, implement and test communication management systems spanning radios, routers, cellular and satellite communication links.
- Develop production-ready software to configure, monitor and control communication hardware and integrate it into the overall platform.
- Build automatic link selection, failover mechanisms and health monitoring to ensure reliable connectivity in degraded and contested RF environments.
- Collaborate with Radio, Hardware and Field Engineers to develop, integrate and validate communication systems from prototype to field deployment.
- Conduct laboratory and field testing to verify system functionality, performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across the full communications stack, from application software and network protocols to embedded hardware and RF frontends.
- Optimize system performance, resilience and overall communication reliability.
- Support the continuous development of advanced networking and communications capabilities.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a comparable qualification.
- Strong understanding of the Internet protocol stack (e.g. IP, TCP, UDP, TLS, WireGuard) and networking technologies.
- Experience developing systems software using Rust, C and/or C++.
- Experience integrating communication, networking or radio hardware into complex products or systems.
- Knowledge of Embedded Linux, ARM architectures, Software Defined Radios (SDR), satellite communications or cellular technologies is an advantage.
- Experience with resilient communication technologies such as Mesh/MANET networking, anti-jam techniques or similar solutions is desirable.
- Due to statutory security and export control requirements within the defence sector, only applicants holding citizenship of a NATO member state can be considered for this position.
- Fluent English is required. German language skills are an advantage., Please be advised that a valid work permit for Germany is required for non-EU citizens. Unfortunately, applications without a valid work permit and sufficient German language skills may not be considered.

Salary: approx. €70.000 - €85.000 gross per annum (in accordance with the GVP collective agreement and the TV BZ ME, with remuneration increasing over the course of the assignment until equal pay is achieved).
