Job description

The Senior Power BI Developer and Data Analyst serves as Cornerstone Advisors’ lead Business Intelligence professional, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise Business Intelligence solutions that transform complex data into actionable insights supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.

This role partners closely with executive leadership, consulting teams, and business stakeholders to understand organizational objectives and translate complex business challenges into scalable analytical solutions. Leveraging expertise in Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server, Azure data technologies, cloud analytics, and modern Business Intelligence practices, the Senior Power BI Developer and Data Analyst delivers secure, scalable, and high-performing reporting solutions that improve operational performance, enhance client delivery, and support organizational growth.

As the organization’s Business Intelligence subject matter expert, this position establishes enterprise reporting standards, promotes data governance best practices, advances analytics capabilities, and provides technical leadership for Microsoft’s modern analytics platform to ensure enterprise data is trusted, accessible, and actionable., * Lead the design, development, deployment, and continuous enhancement of enterprise Business Intelligence solutions utilizing Microsoft Power BI.

  • Design and maintain scalable semantic models, dimensional data models, and enterprise datasets that support consistent reporting and self-service analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines, SQL databases, and Azure-based data integration solutions supporting enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Build executive dashboards, operational scorecards, KPI reporting, and self-service reporting capabilities that enable informed business decisions.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, operational efficiencies, customer insights, business opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop advanced analytical models using forecasting, trend analysis, customer segmentation, regression analysis, and predictive analytics techniques to support strategic planning.
  • Partner with executive leadership, consultants, and business stakeholders to define reporting requirements, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), and translate business objectives into scalable Business Intelligence solutions.
  • Develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, DAX measures, calculated columns, Power Query transformations, and reusable reporting components.
  • Administer and optimize the Microsoft Power BI Service environment, including workspace governance, semantic models, deployment pipelines, gateway management, security administration, and report lifecycle management.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise reporting standards, data governance policies, Row-Level Security (RLS), documentation, metadata, and quality assurance processes that ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and integrations involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other enterprise applications.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and modernize Business Intelligence capabilities through scalable technologies and best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging Microsoft technologies-including Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, AI-assisted analytics, Microsoft Copilot, and cloud data platforms-and recommend practical solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and subject matter expertise to analysts, developers, consultants, and project teams while promoting Business Intelligence best practices throughout the organization, * Microsoft Power BI (advanced dashboard development, semantic modeling, DAX, Power Query, Row-Level Security)

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI architecture, semantic modeling, DAX optimization, Power Query, and enterprise reporting best practices.
  • Advanced understanding of relational databases, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and enterprise data architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services and cloud analytics platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, and Microsoft’s modern analytics ecosystem.
  • Advanced understanding of statistical analysis, predictive analytics, forecasting methodologies, and business performance measurement.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data governance, information security, metadata management, and Business Intelligence lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies, DevOps practices, and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex analytical concepts effectively to executive leadership, consultants, clients, and non-technical stakeholders., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Analytics, or related technical roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years designing and developing enterprise Power BI solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise semantic models, data warehouses, and scalable reporting environments.
  • Advanced experience developing optimized T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
  • Experience developing cloud-based data integration solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency., * Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within financial services, community banking, fintech, or management consulting.
  • Experience implementing enterprise reporting governance and self-service Business Intelligence programs.
  • Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence capabilities within Business Intelligence platforms.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert on enterprise analytics initiatives.
