Job description

We’re an 85-person company that helps businesses win government contracts. We run our operations on a proprietary platform we build in-house. We’re hiring a mid-level full stack engineer to own features end to end, from database to deploy, on a small team.

What you’ll actually do

  • Take features from ticket to production: schema, API, React front end, tests, deploy
  • Work in our AWS environment following established practices: infrastructure as code, proper secrets management, least-privilege access, monitoring, etc.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that pull from external APIs and bulk government data feeds. These sources change format without warning, so error handling and monitoring are a high priority
  • Work on search that users depend on daily: full-text and faceted search over datasets in the millions of records
  • Own bug triage and fixes in your areas of the platform, including reproducing issues from vague user reports. Our users sit down the hall. You are empowered to go where the answers are.
  • Build background jobs and event-driven processing for alerts and feed updates
  • Review code from teammates and write documentation that allows cross functional support when needed.
  • Give estimates you can stand behind, and flag slippage early

Requirements

Core. You should have all of these:

  • 4+ years of production full stack work with Node.js and React. You’ve owned features front to back, not just contributed to one layer.
  • Working AWS experience. You’ve deployed and run production applications. You follow the basics: secrets in Secrets Manager, infrastructure as code, least-privilege access requests. You can explain what your last project cost to run.
  • REST API design with real authentication and authorization. You’ve built role-based access control and can explain how you kept one customer’s data away from another’s
  • Relational or document database depth. You’ve optimized queries against large tables and know what to do when “it’s slow” involves millions of rows.
  • Git-based workflow and code review habits, plus comfort on a small team where process is light and ownership is high.

Strong experience in at least two of these:

  • Search technology: Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or equivalent full-text and faceted search
  • Data ingestion/ETL: consuming external APIs and bulk feeds, with error handling for sources that break without notice
  • Background jobs and event-driven processing: queues, schedulers, workers, * Bachelor’s (Preferred), * React: 4 years (Required)
  • REST API design: 3 years (Required)
  • AWS: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Git: 3 years (Preferred)

Benefits & conditions

Referral program, Paid parental leave, Food provided, AD&D insurance, Parental leave, Health insurance, Paid time off, Vision insurance Full-time Hybrid work in 15950 Bay Vista Drive, Clearwater, FL 33760, * You’ve broken production at least once and can talk about what you learned.

  • You ask at hour three, not day three when you’re stuck
  • You use AI coding tools well. You can direct, verify, and review AI-assisted work, not avoid it

Not required but nice to have

  • A computer science degree
  • Salesforce experience
  • Cloud architecture certifications. This role uses AWS, Cloudflare, and Digital Ocean

Compensation and benefits

  • $95,000-$110,000 base
  • Hybrid schedule based out of our Tampa Bay area office
