Job description

Colorado Springs Housing Authority (CSHA) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented IT Applications & Software Engineer to support HA technology initiatives that improve business processes, data management, and customer service.

The selected candidate will assist with software applications, business process improvements, data management, reporting, testing, documentation, and general IT projects. This role emphasizes learning, problem-solving, and supporting organizational technology needs rather than extensive software development. This entry-level position is ideal for a current student, recent graduate, or individual beginning a career in information technology.

Position will report to the IT Analyst II., * Assist with the maintenance and support of business applications and internal software systems.

  • Help gather and document business requirements from staff and department stakeholders.
  • Support application testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Create and maintain user guides, process documentation, and technical procedures.
  • Assist with report development, data entry, data validation, and data analysis projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in application upgrades, software deployments, and system implementations.
  • Support IT projects related to housing management, finance, human resources, and resident services systems.
  • Collaborate with staff to provide technical assistance and training when needed.
  • Perform other technology-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Information Systems

  • Software Engineering
  • Business Information Systems
  • Related field
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, software applications, and databases.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn recent technologies quickly.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Exposure to business applications, databases, reporting tools, or low-code platforms.
  • Familiarity with SQL or basic database concepts.
  • Proven experience through coursework, internships, volunteer work, or personal projects and work experience.
