Job description

The Attendance Systems Specialist position is needed to strengthen districtwide attendance infrastructure by managing the technical, procedural, and compliance systems that support school-based attendance work. This role will lead the implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of attendance platforms and alerts, ensure accuracy of attendance data, and coordinate escalated issues between schools and Support Hub departments. The position will also support key processes such as home school coordination and the processing of denials for TN teens requesting driver’s licenses who have not been attending school.

What you will do

  • Serve as the department’s lead expert for district systems related to attendance, interventions, and case management.
  • Monitor functionality, updates, and data integrity within Infinite Campus, the ESK Dashboard, and data warehouse tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to system errors, data inconsistencies, or attendance coding concerns.
  • Gather and share critical updates with the Attendance Services team (e.g., upcoming system changes, new reports, data releases, timelines).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Attendance Services and system/technology departments.
  • Develop, request, or refine new data warehouse reports that support attendance monitoring, early warning identification, and intervention planning.
  • Maintain internal dashboards and reporting tools used by Attendance Services. Ensure the team receives accurate, timely data to support compliance, intervention, and communication with schools.
  • Provide targeted training to Attendance Services team members on how to use Infinite Campus, ESK Dashboard, and data warehouse tools effectively. Create training resources, quick guides, and troubleshooting documents.
  • Assist with professional development for schools when training involves system navigation or data literacy, working in collaboration with Attendance Interventionists/Specialists. Offer small-group or individual system support as needed.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or recurring issues in current system processes. Recommend improvements to increase accuracy, ease of use, or visibility of key attendance metrics.
  • Ensure all systems align with district policy, state reporting requirements, and internal procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree student information systems, data reporting, or K-12 data management Required, * 2-4 years student information systems, data reporting, or K-12 data management Required, * Proficiency with: Infinite Campus (or similar SIS platforms), Data warehouse systems and reporting tools, Case management/dashboards (e.g., ESK), and Excel, data visualization tools, and system navigation.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot attendance coding, data errors, and system inconsistencies.
  • Skilled in generating, modifying, or requesting custom data reports.
  • Ability to communicate complex system information in clear, user friendly language.
  • Strong written communication for creating guides, PD materials, and update summaries.
  • Effective collaboration with internal departments (ITS, Data Warehouse, IC Team).
  • Ability to create and facilitate professional development sessions.
  • Skill in breaking down system processes into accessible, step by step guidance.
  • Patience and customer service mindset when supporting team members and schools.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify trends, recurring system issues, or data gaps.
  • Excellent time management and ability to support multiple systems simultaneously.
  • High level of confidentiality and data stewardship.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on system improvements.
