Job description

As a UX / Interaction Designer, you will play a key role in shaping how users experience our software products.

You will work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand who our users are, what they are trying to accomplish, and how they move through our products. You will then translate those insights into thoughtful interaction models, workflows, interfaces, and prototypes.

The focus of this role is designing the experience-not simply documenting requirements.

You will be expected to think deeply about:

  • How different personas interact with a product
  • How users move through complex workflows
  • Where users experience confusion, friction, or unnecessary effort
  • How interactions can be simplified and optimized
  • How the UI can make complex functionality feel intuitive
  • How to create experiences that are not only functional, but also engaging and enjoyable
  • How design can differentiate a product in a competitive marketplace

We work in an AI-first development environment, using AI to accelerate research, analysis, ideation, documentation, and other activities. This allows our designers to spend more time on the areas where strong human design judgment matters most: interaction design, experience strategy, problem solving, and creating exceptional user experiences.

What You’ll Do

Interaction & Experience Design

  • Design intuitive, efficient, and engaging experiences for web and mobile applications.
  • Lead the interaction design process from problem definition through high-fidelity design and prototyping.
  • Translate complex business processes and requirements into simple, logical, and intuitive user experiences.
  • Design interactions, navigation, information hierarchy, and workflows that make products easy to understand and use.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate unnecessary steps, reduce friction, and improve task completion.
  • Optimize existing user interfaces and workflows based on user behavior, feedback, and product goals.
  • Design experiences that balance usability, efficiency, business objectives, and user satisfaction.
  • Think beyond functionality to create experiences that are enjoyable, polished, and competitive in the marketplace.

Persona & Workflow Design

  • Use user personas to guide interaction and experience decisions.
  • Translate persona needs, goals, behaviors, and pain points into effective product experiences.
  • Map and design user workflows, task flows, and end-to-end experiences.
  • Identify differences in how various personas interact with the product and design accordingly.
  • Simplify complex workflows without sacrificing important functionality.
  • Anticipate user needs and design intuitive paths through complex systems.

UI & Prototyping

  • Create wireframes, interaction models, high-fidelity UI designs, and interactive prototypes.
  • Use Figma and modern design tools to communicate design concepts and interactions.
  • Develop designs that clearly communicate how interfaces should behave, not just how they should look.
  • Optimize layouts, navigation, controls, interactions, and information hierarchy.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately.
  • Contribute to and help evolve design systems and reusable components.

Visual Design

  • Apply strong visual design principles to enhance usability and create polished experiences.
  • Establish appropriate hierarchy, spacing, typography, visual consistency, and component usage.
  • Ensure the visual presentation supports the user’s goals rather than creating unnecessary complexity.
  • Bring an understanding of modern digital product design and competitive UI patterns.
  • Strong visual design ability is a plus, particularly for candidates who can combine visual quality with exceptional interaction design.

Collaboration & Iteration

  • Partner closely with Product Managers, engineers, and business stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Communicate design rationale and explain how design decisions support specific user personas and workflows.
  • Work collaboratively with developers to ensure design intent and interaction behavior are accurately implemented.
  • Participate in Agile product development and design reviews.
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback, usability observations, product data, and technical constraints.
  • Continuously evaluate existing experiences and identify opportunities for improvement.

What “AI-First” Means Here

AI is embedded into our design and development workflow. You will use AI tools where appropriate to accelerate activities such as:

  • Research and competitive analysis
  • Information gathering
  • Design exploration and ideation
  • Creating initial concepts
  • Analyzing feedback and identifying patterns
  • Documentation
  • Content generation
  • Rapid prototyping

We expect our designers to embrace AI as a productivity and creative partner, allowing more time to focus on the higher-value aspects of design: interaction strategy, workflow optimization, design judgment, and creating exceptional user experiences., * Think deeply about personas and user behavior.

  • Understand how users move through a product from beginning to end.
  • Identify friction and unnecessary complexity.
  • Design interactions that feel natural and intuitive.
  • Turn complicated workflows into simple experiences.
  • Balance user needs with business and technical realities.
  • Create polished interfaces that users enjoy using.
  • Defend design decisions with clear reasoning.
  • Iterate quickly rather than becoming overly attached to an initial design.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering.
  • Use AI to accelerate lower-value activities while focusing your expertise on design thinking and experience creation.

Portfolio Expectations

A strong portfolio is required.

We are particularly interested in seeing case studies that demonstrate:

  • Interaction design
  • Complex workflow design
  • Persona-driven design decisions
  • Before-and-after UX improvements
  • UI optimization
  • Information architecture
  • User flows and task flows
  • High-fidelity interface design
  • Prototyping
  • Design systems
  • How the candidate identified and solved usability problems
  • The measurable or observable impact of their design decisions

Portfolio submissions that focus primarily on research reports, requirements documentation, or visual aesthetics without demonstrating interaction design and problem-solving are less aligned with this role.

You Will Thrive Here If You:

  • Are passionate about interaction design and exceptional user experiences.
  • Enjoy turning complexity into simplicity.
  • Think in terms of personas, workflows, behaviors, and outcomes.
  • Care deeply about how a product feels to use, not just how it looks.
  • Enjoy improving and optimizing existing experiences.
  • Can move quickly and iterate based on feedback.
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and solving problems without having every answer provided.
  • Collaborate naturally with Product and Engineering.
  • Are excited about using AI to accelerate your workflow.
  • Take ownership of design outcomes.
  • Have strong attention to detail and high standards for product quality.

This Role May Not Be the Right Fit If You:

  • Primarily identify as a UX researcher rather than a hands-on product/interaction designer.
  • Prefer requirements gathering and documentation over designing solutions.
  • Are primarily focused on conducting research rather than translating insights into product experiences.
  • Focus primarily on visual design without considering workflows and user behavior.
  • Prefer lengthy design cycles over rapid iteration.
  • Are uncomfortable working closely with Product and Engineering.
  • Prefer highly siloed design environments.
  • Resist AI-assisted workflows and tools.
