Generac Home is hiring a Technical Writer. In this role you will draft and edit technical documentation for Generac’s residential solar + storage power electronics. Documentation will include but not be limited too; product manuals, technical specification sheets, application notes, white papers, service manuals, product bulletins, and user guides. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and work well both independently and collaboratively. Candidate must demonstrate expertise in execution of writing, inclusive of grammar, formatting and page layout.

Selected candidates may be asked to prepare or share samples of technical documentation inclusive of content and drawings., * Create, edit, and publish technical documentation for internal and external audiences. Documentation may be packaged with solar + storage products, hosted on Generac’s dealer portal, and/or made accessible on Generac’s public website.

• Attend meetings, gather specifications, and ask questions to deliver technical documentation that meets the requirements for key published content.
• Work with subject matter experts at various levels of the organization to obtain content objectives and agreement on edits with maximum efficiency and professionalism.
• Develop tables, diagrams, and supplemental images to aid in understanding product documentation.
• Manage documentation edits with close attention to detail for accuracy and version control.
• Follow along with the evolving nuances related to the technical application for Generac’s solar + storage products.
• Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization as needed to complete projects and meet deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
• Excellent writing skills with an eye for detail.
• 3+ years’ experience drafting and editing technical documentation.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Software, and CAD tools.
• Experience managing and maintaining version control for documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using Solid Works to manipulate CAD models.
• 2+ years’ experience in residential solar or similar electrical equipment industry.
• Experience creating and developing technical documentation for new products.
• Experience using product lifecycle management systems like Arena, or Windchill., While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The salary range for this role based in Oakland CA is $88,100 - $110,100. The salary range for this role based in N. Billerica MA is $83,000 - $110,500 and the salary for this role based in S. Portland ME and remaining locations is $72,800 - $91,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation, including short term incentives.
