Senior Backend Software Engineer - Java/Kotlin & GCP

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support scalable backend applications and cloud-based services. This role involves building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and maintainable software solutions.

This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to understand use cases and technical requirements
• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices
• Build and support cloud-based and on-premise applications
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams
• Contribute to application architecture and backend service design
• Develop high-quality, production-ready code with strong focus on scalability, resilience, and maintainability
• Implement and maintain automated testing practices including unit, integration, API, and regression testing
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery workflows
• Manage application deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
• Implement secure coding practices including encryption and data protection measures
• Work with databases including Oracle, MySQL, and MongoDB
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation
• Support production applications through debugging, incident resolution, and root cause analysis
• Mentor and support less-experienced engineers
• Promote engineering best practices including test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of IT experience with 8+ years in software development
• Strong backend development experience using Java and/or Kotlin
• Experience building backend services, APIs, and microservices
• Experience with Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native application development
• Experience deploying and operating services using GCP Cloud Run
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts including scalability, resiliency, distributed systems, and secure service design
• Experience with GitHub and CI/CD workflows
• Experience with automated testing, integration testing, and test automation
• Experience designing and supporting RESTful and/or event-driven web services
• Experience supporting production systems including monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery processes
• Familiarity with DevOps and automation tools including Terraform, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fossa, and GitHub Actions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
