Job description

The Technical Lead is a critical role to deliver maximum performance and delivery to our customers. We’re looking for a passionate leader to help us drive manufacturing excellence across the site with a focus on continuous improvement and process innovation culture.

Working as part of our site leadership team, you’ll lead the Technical function, partnering closely with Quality, Production, Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure our products consistently meet customer expectations, legislative requirements and industry-leading standards.

This is what you’ll actually do! You will lead the advancement of the technical function to deliver maximised performance and drive a continuous improvement and process innovation culture within the site, interfacing with the site leadership team to deliver improvement initiatives. You will be accountable for ensuring consistent compliance with the site quality manual and ensure that there is a robust HACCP system on site that ensures maintenance of food safety systems. Maintaining documented quality systems that meets all legislative requirements and those of Finsbury Food Group customers and responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and improvement/development of the sites’ technical strategy and its alignment with the FFG strategy, commitments and goals. To lead by example in encouraging appropriate behavioural standards in support of the company’s values and culture, coaching teams in the implementation and training of the companies’ systems and procedures. Ad hoc cover may be required at other Finsbury sites.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Food Science or an equivalent discipline
  • Level 4 HACCP qualification
  • Lead Auditor qualified
  • 3 years minimum relevant experience in a similar environment at senior level.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Cost and commercial awareness, conceptual thinking with an outstanding concern for quality.
  • Has a passion for excellence and can enthuse others.
  • Strongly determined and shows tenacity when facing challenging situations and feedback.
  • A self-motivator who sets their own working agenda and leads improvements.
  • Strong process orientation, logical thinker and analytical ability.
  • Highly numerate and literate with ability to understand how to make improvements through systematic root cause analysis techniques.
  • Must look to continually develop their skills; networking to maintain business knowledge and skills and actively identifying development needs and resources to do so.
  • Fully computer literate, with particular focus on Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong knowledge of business ERP system(s).
  • Understanding of P&L to net profit level. Some or all your experience will have been gained within a technical role and of added benefit would be some experience gained within a manufacturing role.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills to collaborate effectively, build team consensus and influence others.
