Job description
We’re looking for an organised, detail-focused Estimator Support to join the R.D. Jukes team. You’ll provide essential administrative and technical support to the Estimating team - managing quotation enquiries from registration through to write-up, carrying out basic quantity take-offs, and inputting material and labour quantities into the Trimble estimating system. You’ll also draw on strong electrical product knowledge to support estimators, and provide cover to the Procurement function during periods of absence or peak workload, including sourcing materials and equipment, checking supplier stock, raising purchase orders, and booking in deliveries. Day to day, you’ll register and file quotation enquiries and drawings, issue and progress supplier enquiries, maintain the estimating database, attend weekly estimating meetings, and keep the business up to date on daily copper rate changes. Requirements
We assess all candidates against our SKEB framework - the Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Behaviours required to succeed in this role and contribute to our mission of keeping people safe., * Strong administrative and organisational skills, able to manage multiple quotation enquiries, files, and deadlines accurately
- Confident use of Excel and estimating software (e.g. Trimble) to input material and labour quantities
- Ability to carry out basic quantity take-offs from technical drawings, particularly for luminaires and associated materials
- Competent using online systems and portals to source and track plant, materials, and equipment
Knowledge
- Understanding of the quotation and estimating process, including enquiry registration, supplier enquiries, and write-ups
- Working knowledge of purchase order processes and supplier stock checking
- Knowledge of electrical products, materials, and suppliers within the wholesaling or estimating sector (desirable)
Experience
- Previous administrative or coordination experience, ideally within an estimating, procurement, or technical sales environment
- Experience inputting data accurately from schedules or drawings into a database or software system
- Many years of experience within the electrical wholesaling sector, with established product knowledge and supplier contacts (desirable)
Behaviours
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail across quotations, records, and documentation
- Reliable and proactive, able to progress enquiries and follow up outstanding information
- Effective communicator, confident liaising with suppliers, estimators, and project teams
- Collaborative team player, willing to support Procurement during busy periods or absence, * Do you have previous experience in an administrative, estimating, procurement or technical sales role?
