Job description

  • We design, develop, and maintain embedded software and firmware.
  • We develop embedded software in C and C++, with some C# where required.
  • We write low-level firmware, including drivers, peripherals, and communication interfaces.
  • We support board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
  • We carry out unit, integration, and system-level testing.
  • We debug and resolve complex hardware/software issues.
  • We contribute to design reviews and technical discussions.
  • We produce clear technical documentation and follow best practice standards.

Requirements

  • We require 5+ years of experience in embedded systems development, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • We require strong programming skills in C and C++; C# knowledge is beneficial.
  • We require experience with microcontroller architectures such as ARM and Atmel.
  • We require knowledge of communication protocols including USB, TCP/IP, UART, I2C, SPI, and Bluetooth LE or other wireless technologies.
  • We require experience working with Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • We require familiarity with Git or other source control tools.
  • We require strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • We require a Bachelors degree in embedded systems development or equivalent.

Benefits & conditions

We are an established international manufacturing business based in Newhaven, and we are looking to add an experienced Embedded Systems Developer to our Software Engineering team. This is a hands-on, full product lifecycle role working on real-world hardware-based products, with close collaboration across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The position is full time and permanent, based in Newhaven, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with a salary of up to £60,000 depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, free parking, a pension scheme, life assurance, and a health cash plan scheme.
