Job description
- Build, operate and continually enhance Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Take ownership of technical implementation decisions and platform engineering best practice
- Design, build and manage Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Develop and maintain GitOps CI/CD pipelines
- Manage Kubernetes networking, service mesh and gateway technologies
- Improve platform observability using Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
- Maintain platform security, resilience and automation
- Troubleshoot production platform issues and drive continuous improvement
- Work closely with architects to turn high-level designs into robust technical solutions
- Support and mentor engineering teams in adopting modern Azure and cloud-native engineering practices

Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), which is essential
- Experience with Kubernetes platform engineering in production environments
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Docker, GitOps and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Linux and Bash scripting
- Experience with Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry
- Experience with Kubernetes networking and service mesh technologies
- Experience operating, troubleshooting and automating production platforms
- Experience owning technical implementation decisions rather than simply delivering against architectural designs
- Confidence working independently on complex engineering challenges
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience supporting, coaching or influencing engineering teams to adopt modern cloud engineering practices
- A collaborative approach to working alongside architects while retaining ownership of technical delivery
- Experience with Cilium, Istio, ArgoCD or Flux, Kafka or Redpanda, Helm and Kustomize, Python automation, or Policy as Code tools such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno is advantageous
