ServiceNow Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Developer / Engineer for our client in Columbus, Ohio to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise ServiceNow solutions. This role requires deep technical expertise across the ServiceNow platform, with particular emphasis on CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, integrations, workflows, and platform upgrades.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience planning and executing annual ServiceNow upgrades and will be comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle. Experience supporting or transitioning between on-premises and cloud-based ServiceNow environments is highly preferred.

This position operates with minimal supervision and significant latitude for independent technical judgment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support scalable enterprise ServiceNow solutions.
• Plan, test, coordinate, and execute annual ServiceNow platform upgrades.
• Develop and maintain ServiceNow solutions involving CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and data governance.
• Develop integrations using REST, SOAP, Integration Hub, and related integration technologies.
• Configure and develop solutions using JavaScript, Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and UI customization.
• Apply ServiceNow platform architecture standards, development frameworks, and best practices.
• Serve as a technical expert on complex development and platform initiatives.
• Participate throughout the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.
• Translate conceptual designs and business requirements into detailed technical specifications.
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, end users, and technical teams to develop scalable solutions.
• Prototype, refine, test, and debug applications and platform functionality based on user requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex platform and application issues, analyze code to determine root causes, and implement appropriate corrections.
• Support, maintain, and document ServiceNow applications, integrations, configurations, and platform functionality.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend opportunities for implementation or platform improvement.
• Participate in technical and software design meetings to assess user needs and determine appropriate technical solutions.
• Support ServiceNow environments with a focus on reliability, scalability, maintainability, and platform governance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
• Significant hands-on ServiceNow development and platform support experience.
• Proven experience planning, testing, and executing ServiceNow annual upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, development frameworks, and best practices.
• Extensive experience with CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and data governance.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with business and technical stakeholders., * Experience supporting or migrating between on-premises and cloud-based ServiceNow environments.
• Experience with additional programming or scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or C++.
• Experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert on enterprise development initiatives.
• Strong understanding of enterprise application integration and data management practices.
