Job description

Breckenridge Public Schools are currently seeking a Technology Coordinator to oversee all aspects of the school district’s technology information systems including planning, operations, security, purchasing, training, maintenance, and data management. This position requires knowledge and experience with network systems administration to support the technology infrastructure and planning. The qualified candidate will have strong customer service skills and will work with our staff on all aspects of IT network systems, including but not limited to servers, LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless connectivity, operating systems and building operation hardware and software. Aspects of the school district’s technology information systems including planning, operations, security, purchasing, training, maintenance, and data management., * Prepare and manage annual technology budget that reflects the District’s evolving technology infrastructure, hardware and software needs.

  • Supervise the evaluation and acquisition of software and hardware to support instructional and business needs of the District.
  • Participate in the writing of bid specifications for hardware and software solutions as required.
  • Complete E-rate annual forms to maximize E-rate eligible discounts.
  • Cultivate vendor relationships and manage technology-related contracts.
  • Perform or oversee the role of Systems Administrator for multiple systems including Student Information System (Synergy), Google Workspace (formerly Google Apps for Education), and other databases as needed.
  • Perform or oversee the installation and maintenance of software to support instructional and business needs of the District.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of hardware devices in classrooms and offices throughout the District.
  • Provide for asset management of technology equipment, including maintaining support contracts, inventory, and disposal services of end-of-life equipment.
  • Maintain server room security and safety; maintain necessary backup and recovery procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of administrative procedures, directives and board policies related to technology.
  • Recommend district information policies, plans, guidelines and standards that pertain to technological operations.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to utilize software and hardware licensing requirements.
  • Respond to concerns of parents, students, citizens and staff to increase understanding of policies and practices to keep them informed and involved with school district technology
  • On call for service interruptions

Equipment: Perform duties using personal computers, servers, switches, scanners and printers, and related equipment.

Requirements

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, education, or related field or
  • Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field plus experience or
  • 2 or more years of experience in closely related field.

Experience:

  • Experience administering a broad range of technology systems and supporting a K-12 school preferred.
  • Expertise in Google Workspace, Microsoft servers and applications, end to end student safety and device management programs (ie Securly, GoGuardian).
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with adults and students of various age groups preferred., * Strong communication skills to use with internal and external users/customers, ability to organize, multitask and prioritize, attention to detail, ability to recruit, train, and manage student workers.
  • Dependable, friendly, flexible, adaptive, punctual, detail-oriented, knowledge of educational technology and security.
  • Innovative thinker, open to exploring current and future trends defining educational technology and usage.
