Job description

As a System Architect (SAR) - Advanced Robotic Sensing on our Research & Development team, you’ll have the opportunity to merge creativity with your technical expertise by shaping the future of technology, driving groundbreaking projects, and bringing new ideas to life., * Become Infineon’s system expert for advanced robotic sensing technologies within humanoid robotics and Physical AI

  • Build trusted technical relationships with leading robot OEMs, actuator manufacturers, universities, startups and strategic partners
  • Understand future customer requirements for tactile sensing, force sensing, joint torque sensing, magnetic position sensing, pressure sensing, inertial sensing, environmental sensing and sensor fusion
  • Define complete sensing system architectures spanning sensors, signal conditioning, edge processing, safety and AI integration
  • Evaluate customer requirements against Infineon’s broad sensor portfolio including magnetic sensing, pressure sensing, radar, MEMS microphones, environmental sensing, current sensing and the XENSIV portfolio
  • Identify portfolio gaps and initiate innovation programs for future semiconductor products
  • Drive technology exploration in areas including electronic skin (eSkin), tactile arrays, distributed touch sensing, proprioception, force and torque sensing, integrated actuator sensing, sensor fusion for manipulation and AI-enabled sensing
  • Develop application demonstrators together with internal engineering teams and external partners
  • Translate system-level innovation into semiconductor requirements for future product generations
  • Collaborate across product lines, application engineering, product marketing, R&D and business development
  • Represent Infineon as technical expert at customers, conferences, standardization activities and industry collaborations

Requirements

Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Physics or related discipline

  • Extensive experience in sensing technologies or robotics
  • Strong understanding of robotic systems and mechatronics
  • Experience with force, torque or tactile sensing technologies
  • Experience working with industrial or service robots
  • System architecture experience
  • Experience translating application requirements into product requirements
  • Experience with one or more of the following is considered an advantage: Humanoid robots, dexterous manipulation, tactile sensing, sensor fusion, embedded AI, functional safety, ROS2, motor control, robotics middleware, machine learning, digital twins and semiconductor product definition
  • Customer-facing technical experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to travel internationally

We offer competitive salaries and additional benefits based on your performance, experience and qualification. The employment is in accordance with the collective salary and wage agreement for employees of the electrical and electronics industry, employment group J (https://www.feei.at/aktuelles/mindestloehne-und-gehaelter-eei/). The monthly salary is paid 14 times p.a. We offer a higher compensation depending on your expertise and skills.
