Job description

We’re looking for a key member of our Contractor Portal - Streem digital team, which is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the technical stack and portals for Frontdoor’s rapidly growing non-warranty business.

Our Software Engineers are product focused, giving them the opportunity to work on a product and understand the layers of the software stack. Work includes documentation, automated testing, debugging, working with algorithms and data structures, coding, design, system performance scaling, and problem solving for moderately technical and `software programs. Responsibilities also include participation in project deliverables, Keep the lights on related issues and working on tech debts., * Work closely with senior team members to understand the technical design, approach, and implementation necessary to deliver project and enhancements.

  • Work and communicate across teams as required to deliver and test a new feature or fix an existing bug
  • Implement functionality that meets the acceptance criteria, successfully passes automated test cases as defined in a test plan, and meets coding standards.
  • Look at non-familiar code and identify issues, while improving overall quality of system, and helping team members with debugging issues.
  • Write documentation and unit tests for code to be written.
  • Debug and resolve production issues and create subsequent mitigation plans.
  • Optimize performance and improve scalability of existing implementations.
  • Bring forward ideas to experiment and work in teams to transform ideas to reality.
  • Build the right data structures, add indices to fix performance issues, and determine data structures that perform best with respect to third party integrations.
  • Implement code based on common design patterns.
  • Determine correct algorithms based on input size and frequency using basic concepts of algorithms and Big-O Notation.
  • May include other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of computer science fundamentals, such as data structures, (trees, graphs, hash tables); Basic understanding of functioning and implementation of basic algorithms, such as sorts, searching, and the capability to explain performance characteristics using Big-O Notations
  • Microservice based architecture, exposure to write REST APIs
  • Capability to debug moderately complex problems and analyze logs in production systems and to read existing code
  • Good understanding of various data storage options, such as relational, no-SQL, etc.
  • Good skills in languages, such as Kotlin, C#, Golang, .net Core, Java
  • Moderate skills in frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or Typescript, and modern frameworks such as React, React Native, React JS
  • Understanding of Terraform scripts
  • Experience in defining process with clear objectives and ways to measure the effectiveness of the process
  • Ability to be on call on a rotating basis for the services owned by the team

**Preferred Skills: **

  • Experience in developing products in an Agile development environment
  • Experience working in a CI/CD environment
  • Understanding of Git and development activities such as merge and conflict resolution of code
  • Understanding and experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud services
  • Understanding of Elastic search, Log analysis
  • Understanding of Logstash jobs

Physical Role Requirements : Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Sitting forlong periodsof time while using office equipment such as computers and phones. Repetitive motions using hands and digits, such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching, and typing during your normal working environment.

Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field required, Master’s degree preferred

Minimum Experience required (number of years necessary to perform role) : 5+ yearsofproduct development experiencerequired
