ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The mobile field tester will gather mobile speed data from various wireless providers across the state. The data provides valuable information to the California Public Utilities Commission and the public regarding mobile network availability and performance. Data results are analyzed and summarized for reports, conference presentations, and compliance monitoring. Working closely with GIS assistants and under the general supervision of the project manager, the incumbent:
- Conducts mobile field testing at specified locations throughout California.
- Utilizes mobile device applications to perform a variety of tests.
- Documents and reports travel expenses.
Requirements
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Must be age 21 or older and possess a current California Driver’s License, as this position requires the ability to drive a rental vehicle. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
- Familiarity with Android mobile devices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience with travel claims reporting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to adjust to change in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment (e.g., work environment, technology).
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function cooperatively and productively as a member of a unit.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with GIS staff.
- Ability to follow directions and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be a self-learner who can solve problems and work independently with minimal supervision.
COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be in possession of valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required. The candidate will be required to update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.
